meanwhile millions of subscribers still play. WoW has maintained its life. The comparisons you made reminded me of the "elder jedi" vs the "NGE jedi" (I had to grind, I had to work for it, etc etc.).

The millions of subscribers are teens or pre teens...not the original subscribers that were in their 20's or 30's...or beyond.

Played Wow, D and L, AOC, GW, Eve, Rift and many more insignificant games.

And no i dont think you are a 'devil', not quite sure why you were so defensive ..  I am a fairly rational system developer who understands a fair bit about human behaviour in games, and 10k hours in wow, so I have the right to talk/debate about what I have seen as do you.

I know many casual raiding guilds like us, but that wasnt the point anyway. And its also not about addiction, schedules, whatsoever...my point is that there still are  people out there which still have fun playing wow. And I just dont get why quitters always gonna hate because of that. since my english is not that good, I might get misunderstood from time to time...my bad, got it all from watching english cartoons and tv shows. :D

when finally another mmorpg gets live which is some competition for wow,  we might switch. So far any rivals or so called wow killers were only good for a couple of weeks...

gw2 wasnt that terrifying on the gamescom, tor seems to be a big disappointment, still hopes on world of darkness, warhammer 40k since I was a tabletop nerd once....

Perhaps you are in a Mature guild AmigO...One of the few left...last time I played WOW I felt like I was playing with little kids because my guild had dissolved. I'm sorry to say that...but it's true. You also have to remember that I have other issues with WOW...They invited me back, but failed to reinstate me. They promised me something but never delivered. Same ole story.

Played Wow, D and L, AOC, GW, Eve, Rift and many more insignificant games.

btw, I am playing mmos/mmorpgs since UO, so I think I have a bit of a gaming history. my guildmates are like 25-52 years old, wow really works for us, because we all have jobs, some have family and we still can manage to see the hc content. Most of us are playing since US beta and thats what tightens the bond between us...I still have fun raiding with those guys. Or competing in the arena/rated bgs.

btw, most ppl that complain its too easy have
-never played in a high arena rating
-never saw pre-nerf hc raid content
And thats what WOW is all about. If thats not for you, go and play some other crap. ^^

there's a funny thing right there. pre-nerf raid content. everyone knows they have to nerf all raids down. y cant they leave it the way it was intended? cus they have to cater to the casual/kids. nuff stated

Sorry to disagree with u silverreign...but sometimes I want to play with others and sometimes I want to go solo...It all depends on one's schedule...And how one feels at the moment. Sometimes I'm free to play multiplayer...sometimes I'm not. Sometimes I "want" to play multiplayer...sometimes I don't. Sometimes I feel like a nut...sometimes I don't!... If I wan't to go solo sometimes...even in an mmo...I should be able to with options. Everyone should.

You make it sound like you were never affected by being hacked by a another person... Is that your legacy?

You realize TBC was when WoW started becoming really easy right? Well, a bit before then in some areas i suppose. But im not sure that really matters anyways as that is not what i find wrong with the game myself.

I had no problem leaving WoW.  Like the OP, I first played it at TBC launch.  Within 4 or 5 months, I moved on to other MMOs.  I resubbed at WotLK launch.  That held my interest for 2 to 3 months until I was bored. This past January, I bought Cataclysm and had quit before March.  I won't even bother with the next expansion.

Why is it easy to quit WoW?

    • My character died once during the process of leveling from 80-85.  I almost felt insulted that it was so easy.

    • The community becomes increasingly less mature and more 'instant gratification' with each expansion.

    • New content is increasingly watered down and uninteresting.

    • Crafting still sucks miserably considering their budget.

    • There is very little diversity within classes.

Blizzard successfully killed the world by adding flying mounts in Azeroth. I was hoping to get to know the world as back in BC when noone bothered to fly due to 60% speed. Should i even flame Blizzard? No. Its their ideas.

Its their idea to kill world PvP in PvP servers (rofl) by adding high level guards everywhere. Hello? Whats the point adding stealthdetecting overpowered guards in every capital city? A world in war my *. Just change the name to "World of monstervsfactionscraft."

Its their idea to make quests uninteresting by letting everyone fly around the sky skiping the landskapes. And by that, the whole world pvp and yes, the world is dead.

Its their idea to make the WORLD of WARcraft a pve game and make everything necessary instanced. Sit in Orgrimmar, wana PvE? Queue to hcs to get gear for it. Wana PvP? Queue for battlegrounds/arenas.

    Compare it to BC:

Noone bothered using 60% mounts, everyone ran on ground killing everything. Oh man did i love the beach of that blood elf island where flying mounts where forbidden, mass PvP.

I miss the PvP servers; if you wanted to fight in a world filled with PvP, you picked up a PvP server. If you want to level nowadays, PvP and PvE server is the same crap, theres no danger in the world and if some player wants to kill you, well, then the guards will save you.

I remember the hell when trying to get to a grinding spot. Noone flied, everyone came down with a ground mount and killed you really hard.

It was kinda the same though you had to farm and pvp in the same time but raids were instanced. The instances were dangerous due to players pvping alot outside them. Arenas usually were entered near their vendours in Nagrand resulting in mass pvp around it. GG.

    1. Its quite fun that you rage if you die just once. The game itself is so easy but you still want to avoid dying due to the repair cost taking away 50% of your gold.

    2. Well for me, the community became unsocial and serious. I used to love carefree funny scots drinking alot and screaming on vent while raiding. It never happened later on. :(

    3. Deepholm. Oh man that will sure shake your spine. Deepholm. I have never ever seen something more fail than Deepholm. Thousands of quests, boring rocky area, no players at all. I liked Twilight Highlands though. To bad the whole world of warcraft is dead. Get the irony? The world is dead and the worlds war is dead cause noone bothers to world pvp except fail Tol Barad with 10 v 10 due to no oppositite faction players at all.

    4. I used to craft back in the days when epics werent obtainable by noobs. I miss the day i got my first epic stun hammer on my paladin back in BC. Noone else had it. Nowadays everyone got the same gear but hey, im the only one who hates it.

    5. Its just DPS-tank-heal. No more rolls than that. Mobs that require a moonkin to tank? Forget it. Thats soooo BC.

Its a PvE game with PvE players, thats why millions play it nowadays.

Why dont you just go to the sunny place east of Ironforge and look at it bringing back memories when thousand of horde players stood there doing nothing but looking at the gate and suddenly thousand of alliance players came out of it and the world war began? No, ofc not. WoW is not supposed to be like that nowadays. Its more like some NPCs doing some uninteresting battles thats over after one minute.

If i could just make the PvE vendours being puted in a all VS all PvP area where no group is allowed and the one who kills the most players gets to buy the best stuffs. That would serve the PvE players right. That would make them taste World of Warcraft.

    Yawn
