Okay, so I am looking to start Everquest 2. I used to play and my highest lvl was a 52 froglok monk. I am looking to go on the Good side and be a froglok monk again.

If anyone else is interested in joining me, feel free to hit me up with a PM or a reply on this thread and we'll see what we can do to make this happen! :D

Also, please specify what type of player you are and what class and race combo you would like to choose!

Requirements:

Good side

Also, I know this is not really detailed, but feel free to ask any questions. I did not really think about this to full detail.

Please come check out my stream. All the love is appreciated!

I'm trying to see which is the best possible option. I also want to know which has a healthier community.

I just downloaded EQ2 extended this week and hoping to get back into it soon. Some friends and I want to try running a few dungeons two nights a week so we will all be starting in EQ2X. Let me know where you guys end up and maybe we will run into one another.

I think EQ2X would be good as it lets free and payed play. Possibly even more populated.

Unless they are linked? I cant remember

Yeah its all EQ2 Extended now, heh, so there we go..

I'm thinking free may be the way to go. However, I am not 100% sure. :(

Also, Murashu, I'll let ya know what happens! :)

EQ2 Extended is a rip off!  If you are serious about playing EverQuest 2, then EQ2Live is the better option imho.

If you just want to try it out... yeah Extended might be ok to have a look. But EQ2Live is just better.

I have my 45 free days of EQ2 live.  I would be willing to start fresh with a group of people from here.  I'm fine with being on the good side.  I traditionally like Melee classes, but I also like healers.  So I'll basically play whatever is needed more.  Though I dont like natury classes.

Edit: With all the restrictions on EQ2x I refuse to play that version.

They are not linked. My son found this out the hard way. If you pay $15.99 a month for EQ2, you are still listed as a bronze member under EQ2X.

I'm still going to try it out, but I think it is pretty crappy that they require seperate subs for EQ2 and EQ2X.

This is what I dont understand.  Go pay 20 bucks for the box and the sub and have everything the game has to offer.  Not the crappy EQ2x and have to pay for things like classes.

Oh gotcha thanks for that guys I also have the 45 days still fresh for EQ2Live. So ill download it tonight and ill be up to play

  • MurashuMurashu Member UncommonPosts: 1,386

They have a streaming version for download that works good if you just want to jump in without downloading the game right away. It took me about 10 minutes to install the game and be playing compared to downloading 12+gb all at once.

  • NetDudexNetDudex Member UncommonPosts: 10

I might try that. My internet connection around here is pretty limited usually so ill have to see lol.

    Where can I find this?

The servers and website are currently down so I cannot provide you a link right this minute. They actually have 4 different installers, 2 for the EQ2 (1 streaming and 1 full install) and 2 for EQ2X (1 streaming and 1 full install) so make sure you are using the correct one.

I installed the streaming EQ2X client and could not play with my friend who installed using the streaming EQ2 client....

Yeah, I have discs up to faydwer but it only intalls the base client due to disc errors, the station launcher only does the full install.  I'll search for the stream later then.

  • MurashuMurashu Member UncommonPosts: 1,386

Yep I would go with the streaming installer once the servers come back up. EQ2 has gone thru so many changes it will probably take you longer to patch the disk install than just downloading a fresh install.

eq2x is not a rip off... It is the most populated server with the best comunity if you want everything just pay 15 a month the only thing you dont get is races which you can buy 3 for 7.50. if you are starting new at eq2 i would start playing at eq2x.

But on EQ2 live from what I understand the stat items are not for sale.  Also, with the box I have all expansions, the same sub, and all the races.

Doesnt the free server limit you to only adept skills and you can never equip any fableds ?

  • andyman1112andyman1112 Member UncommonPosts: 32

the only stat items they sell on eq2x is Mastercrafted items which everyone who has there tradeskill up and all the mats required can make them.

on eq2x you all expacks except the latest one in which you still have to purchase just like on live

  • andyman1112andyman1112 Member UncommonPosts: 32

try the game before you say anything about it

  • blayugsblayugs Member Posts: 108

I've played EQ2 for 5 years it is a good game, I hate what they did with the spell changes but I do think EQ2X is a ripoff.

  • TheMinnTheMinn Member Posts: 397

i would be down but for some reason....there coding is horrendous. I have to play the game on low. I can play WoW on high, fallout new vegas on high, ffxiv on high, etc....(you get my point) but yet...EQ2.....low....and I love ratonga

It is a rip off, and I have played it. The best guilds are on the live servers anyway. EQ2X is full of window lickers.

Anyone wanting to play the game should play on Live.
