Healer & Rogue questions ?

I have three questions :
1) Healer- My friend and I will be trying Rift for the first time when we can catch it on sale for $9.95 again. He will be playing a Mage class with a pet, and I would like to play a healer.
What are the best healing classes, and what is a good secondary class for a healer to do some dps when we play as a duo ?
2) Rogue- For when I solo or find groups dungeons. Are they good for playing in groups ?...How are Assassin's ?....What is a good secondary class for Rogues ?
As I see it Rogues would only be good with another Rogue secondary. Except Bard...I will never play a Bard...I hate them !
3) What classes are needed and liked most for Dungeons and groups ?.....Most mmo's are short on tanks. Does the same apply for Rift ?
I always use a rule that you should not tank ( lead groups ) unless you know the game well.
