560 ti superclock DoA and older problems

timmy12timmy12 Member UncommonPosts: 390
Well my video card just came in today went to my friends house to install it and start playing games, so I installed it correctly and went on my pc and started to download drivers and crap then after about 20 mins the signal on my monitor went to no signal and then my computer made a weird noise for about a min so I decided to shut off my pc and turn it back on. Still after 2-3 retrys my signal didn't come back so I opened my pc unplugged my things replugged it in and tried to turn it on but it wouldn't turn on at all, took out the video card it turned on. So when the video card was in it wouldn't turn back on and when it was out it turned on. I figured it was my power supply cuz the minimum was 500w and I have a 520w, so I went out bought a 700w power supply hooked everything up again and I turned it on and the video card wouldnt run fan wouldn't spin nothing after 2-4 hours of trying to fix it I came to concluction it was defeative. Shipping it back tomorrow for a new one and hoping when it comes back in it works and it's nothing mobo related.

On that note ever sense I got my pc Ive had some problems.....never really came around to ask about it. Well first off when I start my pc it runs for 5 secs then turns off and turns back on then repeats one more time and then finally boots up. Then the other problem is the computer will start and say overclocking failur and makes me put default settings even when I don't over clock.

Specs:

Intel i5 2500k 3.3ghz proc

4gb of ram 1600ghz

1tb hard drive

Hopefully soon working 560 ti superclocked

P8P67 PRO mobo

Which 520 W power supply, which 700 W power supply, and which case do you have?

Also, the underlying problem could easily be the same as with the card that you replaced...

Well the 520 w power supply is the Seasonic 100-240VAC, then the 700w is a rosewill green series single 12v version. Had good rosewills before and it was $125 :0 the case I have is the destroyer forgot the company name was only $50-60. But idk i went threw 2 mobos and still the same Problems.

The voltage isn't the model number.  If your old power supply was a Seasonic S12II, then it's better than your new one unless it's defective.  Which it probably isn't.

And hold on.  You're swapping out motherboards and just plugging things in and hoping everything will work, without reinstalling anything?  I hope that those are identical motherboards that you're swapping out.

Oh ya my old one is the s12II-520bronze I can just replace the rosewill one then. But nooo I'm not swapping motherboards I was saying I had 2 motherboards the same ones cuz of the sandy bride issue I had to send back my old one back to Asus for a replacement which was in like march or so. That was the last time I replaced motherboards

I have seen a similar problem and in that case it was a defective mother board.

I have also seen it when stupid friend somehow were able to put higher resolution than the monitor could handle, but that was with a CRT screen.

But it can be the fan of the GFX card as well.

Does it work if you put back your old GFX card? In that case I would guess it is the GFX card but I still reccommend you to try the card in a friends computer and see if it works there to be sure of anything.

Another possibility is a software problem. Press F8 when you boot and start in safe mode (with networking), then download the new drivers and install them. It is a simple thing to try so I reccommend that you try this first.

I usually get the mission from my friends to find out what ails their computers and I so far have fixes every one, you just have to check as many possibiloities as possible until you find it, but a spare computer (and my trusty old PCI Matroxx Millenium GFX card) really helps speeding things up.

Well the video card doesn't start up or show anything on the screen, so idk but ive tried it many times but Nothing works. But idk what I should do if I should send it back or what?

    =)

Sorry to hear your having even more problems. Still sounds like a PEBKAC problem.

I'd send it back for a refund while you still can. There is something wrong with the rest of your computer, but no sense sitting on a $200+ graphics card that may or may not work while you figure out what it is - and then by the time you do get it all fixed the card is out of return policy (which can get you a full refund quickly, and you can re-purchase it (or something else) once you get the rest of the computer fixed) and now on warranty service (which can take a long while to get back an identical product).

You sold a part that you thought was defective, claiming that it was a good part?  Fortunately for the buyer, you were probably wrong about that.  But that sounds like an ethics problem, too.

If you sold a card for $180 that you know for certain had fried, then that's even worse.
