BigPeeler's Quick (litterally) Resident Evil 4 Review.

It may be a few days late but whatever. I've been out of town for awhile so I was just able to get it today.

Anyways...

Been playing for about 8+ hours straight now and I just have to say it's amazing.

It's like what RE should have been in the first place... It keeps all the goodness of popping zombies heads off with a shotgun, then adds a whole new style to it. I cant even begin to describe T_T

The new system is awesome... it totally blows the old school "tank movement" out of the water, and I love the whole camera angle thing... the new emphesis on action is deffinatly where it's at... barricading yourself in a house is fun, and knife combat is teh greatness >_<

one of the best things is you're not constantly backtracking (like in previoius RE games), but rather you're (almost) constantly moving forwards... also, difficulty deffinatly seems to be upped. probably a side-product of the action based gameplay... I think I died about 10 times on the lake boss (but it was awesome o_0)

the graphics are amazing (standing in front of a graveyard in the rain, and it looks like something straight out of a Hollywood movie) and the sound is perfect...

gogo~ action button... I just cant tell you how good it feels to roundhouse kick a zombie across the head, just to watch it explode into a shower of bloody goodness...

not to mention it just screams style... you can really tell they put alot of hard work into making this game as good as it could be... It may be early, but give this game GoTY image

oh and dont worry, it's still based around a crazy virus thing and all (although Umbrella has nothing to do with it o_0) and even hardcore old-school RE'ers will love the new monsters... think less "zombie" and more "infected villagers"... bassically faster, smarter, stronger... these guys actually try to get out of the way of your bullets =)

I really couldnt have asked for a better game...

for the love of god, go buy (or rent) this game...

Ya its pretty awsome. My roommate beat it and I started to play it. Its a lot more difficult from previous RE's... those chainsaw guys have chopped my head off like 5 times -_-

Cool game so far, im only about 2 hours in and just about to fight the first boss.

Games like this make me proud I have a gamecube. I will have to pick this up and MGS: The Twin Snakes as soon as I get my car fixed.

Just beat the 3rd/4th boss (4th if you count killing El Gigante a 2nd time) and I have to say that this game also has some of the best boss fights around... One thing i've noticed is it's practically impossible to beat any of the bosses on the 1st try... On average it seems to be taking me like 4-5 tries at least, and it's not like im some console newbie...

Anyways, checking out some of the reviews on this game too...

    Gamepro - 4.5/5

Anyways, just entered the castle not too long ago... Can't believe Luis lost that ____ >_< what a bastard. Off to play some more...

Oh, opps. Damn, I must have dropped it. ::::05::

But like everyone else was saying, yeah this game rocks. Everything about it has improved over the earlier ones; the graphics, the gameplay, the sound, the story... You can really tell Capcom thought long and hard about what was great about Resident Evil and what didn't work. They pretty much created a completely new style of game but still stayed true to the original. They got rid of the old annoying item system, the ink ribbons, running out of ammo, crap controls...

I also really love the RPG aspect of increasing your health and upgrading your weapons at your shop in order to create the best arsenal possible. Possibly what's really unique about the game is despite how hard it is and how many times you might have to retry parts (especially bosses), you still enjoy playing the game. And like BigPeeler said, the boss fights are some of the best in gaming. (really unique too... ever played a game where you fought a blind boss?) It's just too bad this game didn't came out in December, I'm pretty sure it would have won a lot of awards.

Dammit why did they go to gamecube, I have a PS2... I played every single RE on ps and ps2, loved them all. Wish I could play this one... Maybe they will make it for computer, that would be awesome.

Well actually... One gaming site says something like "Will be exclusive for Gamecube for most of 2005" and HappyPuppy.com states it being for GC and PS2, although that may just be a typo or something.

Anyways, just beat that blind guy o_0 he was easy... would that really be considered a boss? I actually beat him on the first try, so it couldnt be ^^...

Im currently in the part where Ashley needs to turn the two cranks to raise the two pieces of the bridge while you supply cover fire (all the while trying to keep a hoard of crazy monks off your ass)... god that's hard >_< I had to take a break, it's just too much lol... i love how intense this game gets... All I can say is thank god for grenades image

shotgun, grenade, rifle, shotgun, shotgun, grenade, rifle, rifle, grenade, shotgun, grenade, grenade, shotgun, rifle... for like 3-5 minutes straight...
