I was going to buy this game when I got paid because I could get it for 14.99 or whatever the summer special was so I logged onto the website to purchase it and it was back up to 39 or w/e the real price is . I know I should have looked at the dates however it wouldnt have helped anyways as I couldnt purchase it until I paid off my credit card on pay day . Yes I live pay check to pay check I am young and just starting out .
So to make a long story short they just lost a sub .
They probably gained alot of subs that way and dont even care that they lost one . I just dont like that kind of thing sales for mmos are not the greatest idea imho if you drop the price it should stay dropped
Anyways there is so much negative feedback from the game that I would never pay full price for it if the price dropped I would buy it and try it but not at the full retial they have it at now.

i was half expecting. "Then i got high"
Its an average game with a few tweaks, i regret buying it.
deals come and go all the time. You just wait to purchase it until the next deal or got some buddy keys from the 7day trials to see if you really liked it.
sounds like your already too negative about the game anyway to be a part of the community as your complaining about negative feebbakc.
so i ask you, as an active player that likes the game, PLEASE do not buy it. i don't want you in my game.
ya, not a great idea at all, afterall, what company LIKES increasing its sales? just crazy.
Apparently stating the truth in my sig is "trolling"
Sig typo fixed thanks to an observant stragen001.
Just look around your local game stores, the game is bound to be on sale soon if it isn't already is.
MMOws drop fast in price after release. nd if nothing else they probably make a new sale in december or so.
Well I certianly wont pay retail for it so as long as it isnt on sale you are safe .
As a person that has been through alot of mmos I am leary of buying any of them to, just be disappointed . You can say trial all you want, as we know trials are just that and they really have nothing to do with the full game . When this game came out I was taking a break from mmos in general to play other games . I was thinking of getting back into an mmo and this was my choice . When I say I have heard negative things about the game I'm not lying. I'm sure you have read them as well I just dont want to invest 40 bucks into something that may be a bust . I can say with certainty that I hope the rest of the community is not like you . If it is I just saved my self 40 bucks as I would'nt last long if everyone was like you (assuming and prejudice from one statement . )
The Rift trial is pretty straight forward. The trial is a good way to see what the combat system, soul system, and rifting is about. The only facets that you miss are the dungeons, wfs, and raids. I was pretty leary of Rift before getting the trial. Trying before buying is a nice way to see things.
"assuming and prejudice from one statement "
Fair enough. It's not like this is my first MMO either. i was lucky enough to test it well in advance and it was something i liked so i paid the 60$ for the CE. The way your post comes off you, say you only hear negative things so i have to assume either 1) your not looking for the positive or b) cant find it so assume there are none. Their are lots of threads with people saying they like the game but may just be overrun by the volume of people complaining, after all - most people enjoying it may be too busy playing to post they like it.
I guess you can assume i'm a jerk from my post, but in reality that is far from the truth. From my point of view, all i saw was someone whining they didnt want to pay for something and complaining that the company is trying to make money selling a product/service that they were interested in. If you dont want to purchase and just try it, you can do the free trial. If your hurting that bad for money then maybe you shouldn't be wasting your time on video games as you said you live paycheck to paycheck. maybe look into some F2P for the time until your financials are in better order or focus on school to get into a better position.
You have won this thread +1
But to OP I do feel your pain a bit, awhile back when STO did that thing where it was $3 and I didn't get it. Then a few days later I was like doh!
Gamestop has it for 24.99

This game is like playing Wow in a wheelchair...:P
Played Wow, D and L, AOC, GW, Eve, Rift and many more insignificant games.
Sadly, this post reminded me of an old Dr. Hook song... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9zcLAUp5E0
I'm sorry that you missed out on a sale and I can totally relate to the whole paycheck to paycheck thing and being young and yada yada yada. And this post is in no way intended to be belittling.
But business is business. The game is more worth the full retail than the vast majority of MMO's I've picked up in the last few years. CO and STO, two of my favorites, weren't nearly as polished at launch as Rift was. I understand your situation, but you owe it to yourself to pick this one up.
Realistically, Trion is missing out on a subscriber, you, as a (potential) subscriber are missing out on a great game. Good luck getting the game, man. And if you do make it in, feel free to look for Ketiei on Estrael.
STO Rear Admiral DOZER TAYLOR TAC ESCORT U.S.S. Deadpool
CO DOC FAHRENHEIT TEACHER ** CO DARKWATCH STUDENT
CO DARTAN STUDENT ** CO RYUMON STUDENT
RIFT - Ketiei - Estrael Shard - DEFIANT FOR LIFE
Dr.hook was gay. And is dead now. Sylvia's mother and or "She was only 16"... the whole nine yards...Very much a stretch...Let's get back to the moment. If you enjoy being level 50 with everyone else then this game is for you! because everyone can reach lvl 50 in 2 weeks! Pick the game up if you want! You will be paying 40 bucks to be one of the croud.

@OP
I just checked Amazon.com and the collectors edition is priced at $19.99.
Edited to add link

I like it... I think once you level cap it's even more fun quite frankly. Definitely worth 20 bucks if you ask me. Check Steam too... they were having a deal on it not too long ago.
No bitchers.
i got to lvl 20+ almost as a dps warrior. and not once did i ever have to group with anyone for quests. rifts while fun in the moment get kind of boring. didnt even need to get into any guilds. frankly I found the game quit lacking and boring. been there did that type of deal. felt like warhammer online mashed with wow elements, with decent graphics. i just canceled a couple days ago. I think I will hold out to see if any decent MMO's are slated to come out. but just my opinion.

Just wait until GW2 and SW:TOR launch price will drop then. Rift is pretty much just a filler game for most. Unique enough and good enough to tide you over until some better MMO's come out. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad game it's just not enough of an improvement on the standard MMO model to keep me. It's the best of whats out right now though lol, I guess thats saying something.
This is of course all just my opinion so don't get your panties in a wad.
Played Wow, D and L, AOC, GW, Eve, Rift and many more insignificant games.
but someone put the salts under my nose and I woke up.

I wouldn't buy it if it was free...

Rift standard is going for $19.99 and the CE $24.99 up until July 24th from the official site. https://www.riftgame.com/en/products/

You can get it for 4.99 regular or 9.99 collector's right now! If you really want it. I'm thinking about doing it but unsure.
If it's something you wanna try you should just go out and get it. Not to sound pompous *(I'm quite broke)...but divide the hours it takes to level in an mmorpg these days and you'll see it's still worth the 25-39$. The game is decent. I tried it since beta and I got bored and went back to Dark Age of Camelot - 3 realms and a ton of classes. Problem for me with Rift is it advertised (it stopped since the complaints) that you were NOT in Azeroth anymore - and yet they had instanced BG's and 2 factions with same class options on both sides.
Personally I'd say play WoW - because if a company doesn NOT have the courage to invest in CHANGE and individual thought (rifts are interesting as an aside but got old very quickly).. then you might as well play the original because the Blizzard team has fed endless hours of fun into their title.
...or wait for a new mmorpg. DO the Rift trial as well - see if you like it. Now if Rifts builds castles and tosses in a realm to break the 2 faction stalemate that titles are locked into these days - then I'll jump ship as well. Well, they'd have to put different classes in each realm - for Christ's sakes who does marketing for these titles nowadays? Deadliest Warrior is hugely popular - not because it's Samurai vs Samurai! Anyway - Dark Age figured that out in 2001.
/nuff said - poor developers are just so out of touch these days sadly
Good luck! Personally I love RvR so Dark Age of Camelot for me (and yeah Warhammer can sit in a toilet for all I care so that should tell you something).
/cheers!
In summary from Comaf
like it all, don't judge me!! I sorry

Well glad you had your opinion as well. Personally I go for more of a thought process - complete sentences, etc.
For example, what is your reflection on the state of the genre as presented by the Rift team? Do you agree that the OP would enjoy this title, or should they go to the source mmorpg and play WoW?
The OP is pondering if the cost of the Rift title is viable. I believed that it was - and stated quite rapidly that 25-39$ is worth the cost when considering the time invested or what you could get out of a game for that cost. i also believe he needs to try some other titles because Rift lacks originality (though I did like the graphics).
Thank you for playing
