The request was written as follows. Quote: Dear Mr. Hawkins, I do hope the pidgeon made it to you safely. I would have sent two or three had I been able to, but due to recent Undead raids, I have had a terrible time trying to find any messenger pidgeons at all! Now, I need you to find me an explorer, or at least a young adventurer looking for a journey. I am putting together a book on plant species throughout Myrland, but I am getting far too old to travel into the Stairs of Echidna. This is why I need you to send someone there and retrieve illustrations and information on Jungle plant species. Please have them bring back as much information as they are able to obtain with the resources at hand, along with illustrations of as many plants as possible. I am in a bit of a hurry to finish this book however. I need them to return within the week. It is alright if they miss some plants, I can always do a revision in a few years. Your friend, Lan What you need to do: Gather as much information on Jungle plants as you can from ingame Take screenshots of the plants (You can draw them too if you wish) Format your report of the plants What will decide who wins: The detail of information The format of their report The screenshots The number of plants The rarity of the plants Try to get as much detail as you can while also covering as many plants as possible. The report can come in any picture file type, or .rtf (Rich text file). If it is a .rtf you may upload it online so that I can easily download it, or send it to me over IRC. If it is a picture format you may upload it to imageshack.us or send it to me over IRC. The Prize: Forum Title "The Botanist" You have 24 hours to send me your report, adventurers. Might need a little more than 24 hours, but it appears some are giving it a go.

So the event is to go around and take SS and or write down info of plants?  Nothing to interact with in the actual game?? Fail event is fail. 

 

I bet it took about 3 secs of brain activity to come up with this. 

SV= Hmm well there is a lot of decent in game right now we need to figure out soemthing for them to do.   There is a lot broken what can we do.

SV= Well lets have them go around and take pics of plants and write down info and send it in to us.  Event is goooood!   Since the candles on the front page are not placating them anymore lets come up with something that is equally as fun.

 

Edit.  This has to be one of the lamest events I have heard of.  Why were events in the 90'd in UO better??  Do we only have non game interactive events now adays?

The main complaint seems to be the deadline.  To make a complete compendium would indeed take more time, but according to the "letter", the winner will simply be whoever does the best job with the most information.  Should be interesting to see the results.

We all know the bar is lowered for the average MO player.  Running around and taking pics of plants is not an event in my book.  It is not even an event where ou interact with the game.

An event where you do not actually interact with anyting in the game.  has there been an event in any gme like that before??  Well you do have to give kudos to the imaginative process to come up something to do for the players with all the turned off and broken systems in the game.
