This thread is inspired by the MMORPG.com trend for displaying new screenshots as a "news" story.
LotRO is not the only game to be in the 'news' like this lately. IMHO a screenshot without any kind of attached content is really just a shill post? It seems that the trend lately is to maintain 'hype' for a game by drip feeding screenshots and artists' concept drawings with out really releasing any new information?
On one hand - some people like screenshots. In some cases a picture really is worth a thousand words and can reveal quite a lot. Also, if scrrenshots are not news then videos probably shouldn't be either? And some people like to be kept up to date.
On the other hand - screenshots and concept drawings do not necessarily reflect anything to do with content and (in cases like the above) really are not that revealing (I think we have a fair idea what to expect with Isengard at this point?)
But, that's just my opinion
I wondered what other readers think about this?
