I did because I want to be able to play on day 1, as opposed to waiting for days/weeks until there are enough in stock at my local retailer... now I can sit back, wait, and know that no matter when the release date is, I'll be able to play on it.

I can do the same thing and just wait until I know when the release date is.

You do get early access on weekends.  You won't get into beta right away or anything,  but you will get to play in september (but I'm hoping sooner)

not sure that they said preorders automatically get access to the beta weekends

As anticipation grows, BioWare also proudly announced today that Star Wars: The Old Republic will open "Beta Test Weekends" starting this September. These weekend play sessions will be open to selected players worldwide and create an opportunity for fans to get a sneak peek of the epic stories, worlds, quests, battles and characters in the game. Please visit www.StarWarsTheOldRepublic.com to register for game testing and to stay tuned throughout the summer for more details as they become available.

sounds like it will be people picked from those that are signed up for testing.  but i could see them taking people from both since they know who pre ordered

No, I haven't preordered. I feel shafted by the insane prices and the shady business models we've seen from the many retailers. Amazon customers who had pre-ordered earlier, when the game was priced 28 UK pounds, had their order cancelled and now have to pay more. Origin is a farce, limiting the number of retailers who can provide the game at a lower price. The huge differences in prices between currencies is nothing more than insane...

I am all pre-ordered up and ready to go :)

Now watch TSW announce pre-order too, ack!  Be video game overload.

I am really amazed at the high numbers of people who preordered the CE.

The hype is truly strong in this one.

Not going to play it myself for reasons stated repeatedly, but I wish you all luck with this one. image

I really really really really really thought about the CE but honestly the only thing I want from it is the special store.  The rest of the stuff for me personally would be meh, so I can't really justify that cost.

Still I might switch my order to a CE before the time comes if there are still any left which it looks like they are selling out fast, hehe.

Haven't yet but will this weekend. Will only be getting the regular pre-order version as the CE is why too much for my tastes.

And, is there a launch date yet?

a few months after it is released... it will probably retail for about £10.. that will probably be the time to try it.. though with no clear release date.. or even if it will be released this year even, only a few of the people who buy the game on pre-order now, will be allowed to try the beta version in september..  theres a good chance it will release before christmas, but.. i wouldtnt bet the farm on it..  image

I did not, however if it was $150 for the GW2 CE I wouldn't have a problem paying it.

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.

I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.

No and No. I have never bought a CE for a game or a movie because they are nothing more than an overpriced cash grab in order to sucker fans into paying more for a product. I have enough junk in my house and don't need figurines or masks or any of that other useless stuff cluttering the shelves. More power to you folks that are willing to pay 90 extra dollars for that crap, but no thanks. I'll stick with the standard game.

I pre-ordered the digital deluxe edition.

Still have to get used to the idea of not getting a box for the game, call me old fashioned.

Feel free to use my referral link for SW:TOR if you want to test out the game. You'll get some special unlocks!

I pre-ordered the CE. If I love the game, I may keep it. If not, I'll resell it. Not really a big deal.

i bought the CE only for the in game items and authenticator.  The other stuff I could care less about. Yea i think it was overpriced, but I did it anyways.

Same here lol. I was like, WTF, just do it lol.

Ordered from Gamestop online. Need to wait up to 2 days for the code. People ordering from Gamestop will still be able to download game earlier like everyone else even though the physical disks arrive later.

Why did you preorder? I thought you hated the game and were expecting SWG 2.0? :-)

Nope. Only game I've preordered in the last two years was Gears of War 3. I generally don't see the point of them since 90% of the time I can just run to my local Best Buy and get a copy on release day anyway.
