Originally posted by claith They are right when they say that alotta MMORPG's have gone linear, and those will also be the first to go bye ,bye.I think Sony made a big mistake in the design of this version{EQ2}.It is very linear, and i don't agree that mmorpgs are linear in nature, freedom of movement should be your biggest feature in one,and yet try as they might Sony did'nt even come close to freedom of movement.Unfortunately EQ2 is very linear.I have 4 characters, and have stopped playing,..it bores the hell outa me now for some reason i can't get motivated to log in.I don't feel at home in ONE city, that alone takes away from the identity of having a community,...i know there was a big catacylsm and all,but that was a mistake by having just 2 citys also. Also the Craft system is very unflexible, its fun to use..standing at forge and stuff hitting buttons, beeter than tradeskills in past where they were boring as hell, but after while this gets there too.Bad thing is everything is in a tier system,so by time you can make items ,you can't use them anymore, also the stats can only be one of 4 combinations, very lame and worthless really, unless you wann use that guy to craft items for you 3-4 months down road, but for what? You can easily find items better than you can craft,so again, its hardly worth it.Sorry,i wanted to love EQ2 very bad, even got me a new comp for it,unfortunately after beta and this past couple months,it just is'nt what i would consider a true, home away from home,go anywhere, rpg.I'm waiting for D&L,from what i heard its like Asherons call in its vastness, bigger i hear, and very flexible, lets cross fingers and hope it raises the mmorpg bar back up and they do it they way we like it;P

Got board cool, I can accept that, but Linear are you kidding me? I'm not sure I understand, are you saying there should be no "zones" That you should have level 50 monsters right there beside level 1? Yeah that's a great idea.
"Excuse me sir, do you know where I can kill some badgers?" "Sure there right over there behind those Dracolitches. Don't go too far though or you'll run into Tiamat, and since you're only 6th level, that would probably be bad for you."
Firemagic seems to live on the boards instead of playing is beloved WoW. Wonder why? Must be because of the server outages, waiting on queue list, roll backs, or just plain sucks in PvP and gets owned in the noob zones, do I need to go on
what i like the most now about eq II ... yes am still playing until my subcription ends , they are already planning now how to rob us of more of our money with 5$ updates and 2 times a year expansions ..nice sony what a beautiful maketing machine they are .
let not forget the eq II player site that u have to pay to see stats for your characters and guild nice .
maybe these mmo companies need to be a little more patient before spamming us with expansions , god that why i enjoy games like eveonline free expansions wow ... now that a smart peoples .

Like the vast majority of WoW players I've had no connection problems whatsoever, no rollbacks, no queues, and I do just fine in PvP.
Keep telling yourself whatever you need to in order to uphold your delusions.

OK, I could have worded that better.
I'm sure the majority of players have experienced a slight modicum of connection problems, but not to the extent that you, and other people like you, who flatly and indignantly refuse to move servers seem to be experiencing them.
Would it really hurt you so much to maybe just play another character for a week or two until Blizzard institute an option to move servers? You seem a lot more bothered by the problems than anyone else on these forums who plays WoW, and since you're faced with a solution I'm surprised you don't use it. Maybe it's not the perfect solution, but it is a solution.
It really seems to me like you just don't want to take the option because it'd remove your ability to constantly whine and moan about it.

You're right, I flat out refuse to move servers. My guild moved on the second day to a "low" pop server... the next day that server was a "high" pop server, and we weren't about to move again, since we already had enough people scattered around. If we would have known that 2 months after release there would still be serious problems, then yes, of course we would have switched to another server. But unfortunately we trusted Blizzard, and thought the problems would only last a couple days. And we're sure as hell not going to start over now since a few of us already hit 60.
And who says in a week or two Blizzard will let us move servers? I know they said they are planning on doing it, but who knows when.
Oh and yes, I would move to another server, but then I couldn't complain about it.

I hear ya.
Sorry for being unreasonable, and I really hope your experience gets better soon. While I personally don't see the issue being as big problem as it's being made out to be it's quite clear Blizzard's reputation is hanging in the balance.
In the long term I can only see good coming out of it. Blizzard seem to have dramatically increased communication with the community for one thing, and they've obviously realised a great reputation can easily be ruined.
Apparently you weren't paying attention when the system was explained jimothy. Under Part A of the system, regardless of the fact that you've already moved, if your new server becomes congested, you must now move again. And, of course, should this happen again in the future, well, you know ... Part B of the system provides that, if you are playing on an uncongested server which is nevertheless having problems, you must cease playing until the said problems are corrected, or, well, just accidentally go away.
Try to keep up and all will be well
BTW, you're taking too much of the free snacks in our forum firemagic. Better watch out or we're going to have to start charging.

Right and since every other MMMO gives this stuff away for free I can see where you would have a problem with this...Oh wait, no other MMO does this at all..Hmmm kind of puts a different spin on things huh?

No it isn't. Neither is "grammer".

I played EQ 1 a little bit, but I found it a real chore to have any fun, so I quit playing and stuck to Asherons Call because I was just one of those die hard pvp lovers. When EQ2 came out I immediately had to try it out. I played it extensively for a little over a month, and reached level 25 with a Troll Shadowknight. Then all of a sudden I just didn't log in anymore. The game is a great game, with awsome features, state of the art graphics, and real potential. However, I guess the fun factor was missing. I really didn't enjoy playing the game. It felt like a chore maintaining my levels to keep up with the friends I had made. So I play WoW now, and in my opinion, its down right fun. I don't think I will ever go back to EQ2. WoW has a fun factor that is untouchable by any game out there. It isn't a chore to level, and death doesn't make you want to kill yourself or the players you are grouped up with. PK is nice, and when the battlegrounds come into effect, I don't think I will ever be able to stop playing :-)
This of course isn't to bash EQ2. Like I said the game has real potential if, and I state again, im my option, they add some soft of "Fun Factor".
yes indeed i felt same way after a month of intense playing and crafting too, like everyone is saying eq II isnt a bad game not that i find the game hard but for alot of peoples it isnt worth all the trouble because everthing feel like a grind
like locked encounters and not being able to heal someone in trouble , of course they want to elimate PLing , so everyone has to pay . what bothers me the most mainly was the no coin drops and having to sit in my room to sell while i caould be advenduring to me this was sony most stupid decision .

i got eq2 on release and didnt even finish my free month before i got rid of the game, it bored the hell out of me, i just couldnt get into it

Anyone else see the flaw in this logic?
