Right, a few years ago I played an mmo, it was a game set in space where you had two teams who had to destroy each other

You would login and wait in a lobby, and then go into a game with players and a commander

You had a commander who built a base, and upgraded things, he didnt actually play he just built objects and upgraded ships

the players would go through wormholes to attack each other and would just generally fight, an example of the weapons used was a weapon which would attack ships through a wormhole.

I was playing eve the other day and I remembered the game but can't think of the name.

Anyone know the name of it? I've forgotten, thanks

I've never tried it. Care to give a brief review of it, what made it fun, the pro's and con's?

Firstly, it's an old game with a small community, the basic idea is that you have two teams who select a commander,

when you enter the game the commander has a different view to everyone else, he can see the battlefield and is in control of the teams resources, he upgrades technology and builds for the team.

The team undocks or 'launches' from several stations in ships that the commander has researched for them, they can reccomend to the commander what technology to research and this can include different weapons and abilities such as 'stealth' and cloaking. Players will then take different roles, probing looking for enemies or simply engaging in dogfights to destroy the enemy. In a long game eventually the technology will reach a level where 'capital ships' are created, or ships capable of destroying everything in their path.

    The pros:

Very nice command structure, vote to kick with majority if people go afk or are simply irritating

Newbie games for new people so that they can mess things up in an environment where nobody is going to shout at them

A range of technologies and ships, a quite interesting economy and an immersive environment where you can actually watch structures being built.

Levelling system which is usually evenly matched to allow players of the same experience to fight each other

Twitch combat system, joystick based you can use a keyboard though

    Cons:

Dated graphics, this game is old now so yeah.

    Small community

The game can get very heated at times, people can be unforgiving when a team starts to lose, people will start to blame the commander or just simply throw a fit, hence vote to kick and boot options

    What made this game fun:

The dogfights are good fun, jumping into parts of space and finding enemies and engaging them in large numbers is good twitch combat and can be a large amount of fun

Different methods of combat, you could simply storm the enemy with huge amounts of ships, or take the stealth approach and suprise them with stealth bombers.

    hope this helped :)

    Wow,

Sounds like a game version of Ender's Game.
