ouch, hope he gets them fixed.

Yeah, I saw them mention they would charge the account for the full amount in some cases and return it to what the preorder cost was.

Yeah, they charged my debit card the full price then refunded all but the 5.00 preorder charge. I didn't have to call them over it or anything like that. It was all done the same day without any need for me to get involved.

Same here i got charged 62.99 $ on my master card from origin and then i got a 56$ refund in like a day or so

They already stated that there is more than 1 million CE and they are sold out. So yeah I mean 1 million CE, I can't imagine the regular edition sales.

*weeps* This game looks so horribad to an originals style SW fan.

Have they announced a release-date or when the prestart begins?

I'll answer this in red, rest is just bleh and throwing insults around so i'll leave it be.

The red though that i'll answer with both my words and devs

They have stated that you could install the game, run the patcher and play the game without ever touching origins. Origins is just a download port to download the game like say D2D is, you load it up, order the game, download the patcher, close origins and start up the patcher and nevere touch origins again.  Or you can just bypass all that and buy it from amazon or a brick and morter store and install it from the CD.

Dev post on the subject (edit: found a better one):

    No, you won't.

While Origin will be the exclusive digital retailer for Star Wars: The Old Republic (in other words, if you want to buy it online and download it, you’ll do so through Origin) that does not mean that Origin is required for you to access or play The Old Republic.

Origin is a digital storefront, and the desktop application is there to give you quick access to Origin exclusives and deals.

However, you won’t need to launch the Origin application to run The Old Republic, nor will you patch the game via Origin. Once the game is on your hard disk, you’ll be connecting to our servers to patch and launch the game, and Origin does not have to be running to do that.

To answer another question - boxed versions of the game will include the client on DVD(s).

Help me Bioware, you're my only hope.

Is ToR going to be good? Dude it's Bioware making a freaking star wars game, all signs point to awesome. -G4tv MMo report.

more than 10. write it down, you'll see!!

LFD tools are great for cramming people into content, but quality > quantity.
I am, usually on the sandbox .. more "hardcore" side of things, but I also do just want to have fun. So lighten up already :)

  • kaliniskalinis Member Posts: 1,428

Actually if u pre order from a brick and mortar store they are gonna give details on how those people can download the game for early acess. So u wont even have to use cd to install game as early acess means u will have it already.

so if u dont wanna use origin u dont have to.

Right now with no launch date only those more "hardcore" will preorder. Once the date is set, there will be a bunch more preorders (same effect occurs with FPS). So until a date is set, I predict around 700,000 or so.

Looks like my poll ended up being crap.

Should kept going after a mil.  I just honestly didn't anticipate THAT many people preordering so soon!

I really hope that *insert game name here* will be the first game to ever live up to all of its pre-release promises, maintain a manageable hype level and have a clean release. Just don't expect me to hold my breath.

So what are the estimated number of pre-orders? I don't see any numbers anywhere.

    3 mil? 4?

Quite simply they didn't release specific numbers as far as the layman can tell.  EA and, well most companies now assign codes when dealing with numbers for preorders or sales,  especially when they're a public company.

EAs code is actually Cupcakes.  The best estimate would probably be around 1.5 million cupcakes baked, and from the most recent EA investor reports,  there going to ice them instead of frost them,  with the possibility of sprinkles.

Its clear EA has never seen cupcakes baked like this before... and thats saying something.

    200.000 so far.

  • KabaalKabaal Member UncommonPosts: 3,042

200,000 in less than a week. That number should be significantly higher by the time the game comes out, which we know won't be until at least the end of September. That being said, i imagine the pre-ordering frenzy has subsided now and between now and then it will only be a trickle in comparison making peoples estimates of multiple millions of pre-orders a bit unrealistic.

    I reckon 1 - 1.5 mil pre-orders.

  • CaldicotCaldicot Member UncommonPosts: 455

    Don't preorder!!

The predictions of Doom and floppage from some on this site seem to be looking rather stupid now.

The crazy thing is a lot of people I know are going to pre-order but havent yet so the number will probably continue to rise......

I pretty much agree with your prediction. I'd add a few hundred thousands 1,3-1,7

The answer is easy given the choices, SWTOR sold more pre-orders in four days than Battlefied 3, and EA has estimated that Battefield 3 will sell in the area of 11 million (was orginally 8 million before they readjusted after preorders),  it would be a safe bet to say over 1 million.
