the third Guild Wars novel, "Sea of Sorrows" by Ree Soesbee, is currently scheduled for March 27, 2012, and? when they started with the novels they have stated that the three novels would be released before GW2. Which could well mean that GW2 will not be released before April 2012... the 7th year anniversary of the original Guild Wars game.
or is it a placeholder date?

That sound about right .. the game hasn't been hyped very long yet ... so it's about 12 years ahead of the curve being set by SWTOR
LFD tools are great for cramming people into content, but quality > quantity.
I am, usually on the sandbox .. more "hardcore" side of things, but I also do just want to have fun. So lighten up already
The release of the game is completely independent from the books.
they still stated that the 3 novel will be release before the game ,

dang i was hopeing it would be jan/feb.
Now i need to get TOR to kill some time until gw2 gets here ><
The game will be released when its released. The release of the book has nothing to do with it. The book could come out after the game for all we know.
They stated that they'd "LIKE" to get them released before the game.
well i hope ur right , when they first say that i did not hear or read any "LIKE" lol anyway .. Well When its done i guess :P

I think they would have to be independent of one another, working on different schedules. I suppose they could have the book ready to go and release when they want to based on the game's development schedule. That said, releasing the book a month before the game would be a keen idea.
Of course, planning to release the game at the end of April 2012 doesn't really fit with the "when it's ready" idea, does it?
"Gamers will no longer buy the argument that every MMO requires a subscription fee to offset server and bandwidth costs. It's not true you know it, and they know it." Jeff Strain, co-founder of ArenaNet, 2007
WTF? No subscription fee?
Sounds like the date is about right, gut feeling statement. I think they will have most done by end of year eg last prof even, but they will want to polish a lot and perhaps avoid SWTOR etc. Obviously this is my own guesses, but as I say, seems about right with how polished a release ArenaNet want for GW2. Plenty of time to give me a start in EvE this Fall. : )

Yea, I think if they release next year they will give the SWTOR hype train some time to die down, they will give Eve's new expansion hype some time to die down and give their game more media presence right before release day. And I'll also get to play all of these games without spending too much time on GW2 hehehe.
This is not a game.
