I have played alot of MMO's in my lifetime and only a select few have evaded uninstallation. I'm currently bored with all the games I play, so I decided to try and make an interesting thread to watch. I'm sure this has been asked around these forum's before, but why revisit old threads when I can get current/relevant opinions.
If you could take any game-making aspect from your favorite MMORPG, MMOBA, or MMORTS and put it into one super MMORPG, what would it be and why?
Your answer could be anything as little as a Healing Potion to as game changing as Real World PVP. It might be the variety of different things to do that Runescape has accomplished. Maybe you have enjoyed the community and thought the developers did a great job on the Chat Function of thier game.
Now would be a good of a time as any for me to give my opinion. I will start with an easy one. I always loved the rifting idea in aion. They have certain level Rift's for different area's that bring you exactly where you need to go to kill enemy factions. The PVP rewards are restricted to levels. For example if a veteran comes to kill a noob he doesn't get anything out of it except personal satisfaction. However, If the noobs are plenty and are good enough to kill him they recieve hefty rewards. Sounds like a bad thing for the veteran but it balances the game and keeps players where they need to be.
Let's put our great minds together and create our own little virtual world! I look forward to hearing all your Ideas!

SWG crafting & resource spawning
The Deathstar destroyed planets...Lucas Arts destroyed Galaxies

Played:
SWG | EVE | WOW | VG | LOTRO | WAR | FML | STO | APB | AOC | MORTAL | WOT | BP | SW:TOR
What I would take :
Diversity of playstyles in League of Legends. ^__^ Theres a cute lil black mage, a icey bird, a archer, and a loooooottaa other ppl! ^_^
What I wouldnt take :
Last hitting creeps for monehs. Do you have any idea how many kill stealers there will be if an mmo implemented last hitting for moneys~?

hm hard to decide, maybe diplomacy from vanguard
Probably the huge open world of FE. I'm so bored of MMORPGs that try to look like having a world, but in truth they have only one direction: forward. To the left and right you have after five steps a wall, ocean, river, or mountain range you can't pass.
Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)
Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)
3 Factions a la DAoC
I was going to mention this as well but I think in an MMORPG it's impractical. Balancing PVP would be difficult and item Database would be humungous. If it could be done it would be epic though!
The solid gameplay mechanics for pvp from DAOC. The 3 factions are nothing without them.
The housing and it's carpentry connection to crafting in EQ2.
President of The Marvelously Meowhead Fan Club
autoscaling the instance based on your group, and the difficulty you could manually set from CoX
Rare mobs pop when you kill lots of trash, a la EQ. Makes the open world relevant other than for quests.
EQ1, EQ2, SWG, SWTOR, GW, GW2 CoH, CoV, FFXI, WoW, CO, War,TSW and a slew of free trials and beta tests
no item grades no colors no item description saying epic it is a cheap way of using the same item 5 times by giving them diffrent grades but should be 5 diffrently obtained and diffrent looking items as seen in most sandbox games
higher tiers of gear look more and more spectacular, but 0 stat improvement between them, ala guild wars. Solve raiding end game cycle/gear inflation/balancing in a stroke.
rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar
Now playing GW2, AOW 3, ESO, LOTR, Elite D
Since MOBAs are allowed I'm going to say the amount of sheer skill and team coordination is needed in them. I recently started LoL and it puts the PvP in every MMO I've ever played to shame.
The sidekick/mentor system from City of Heroes/Villains. This allowed lower level players to game alongside their higher level friends.
The Warrior Priest class mechanics from WAR. Being able to heal your team while beating things with a giant hammer was great fun. It made the cleric a fighter and got them out of the standard healbot mode. Loved it.
Open Astral Spaceship PvP and PvE battles.
Allods Online really PWNS :P
FEEL THE FULL
FREE-TO-FLAME
FANTASY.
Age of Conan's scalable instances.
I would say the sense of community in Asheron's Call. e.g., Hanging around the Arwic lifestone socializing, or trading your socks off in the hub. Those were the days!
Games Played: World of Warcraft, Dark Age of Camelot, Asheron's Call, Asheron's Call 2 and Star Wars Galaxies.
Writing Books in Ultima Online, Music Playing in Mabinogi. I know it's more than 1, but I couldn't decide which one as both are very important fluff to me. Walking around town hearing players play their own music, buying books from an "author" in UO and reading them during downtime, etc. Felt like the world was alive and players were truly part of it.
Can I add another one~?
Global names from City of Heroes and Champsions Online. They make it really useful so a troll cant troll you unless they use another account! Its really helpful! ^_^

EQ2's encounter system, with some expansion to it. It was a step in the right direction to making Mob AI more intelligent and challenging. EQ2 did alright with it until they decided to make the game generally easier, but it's something I would like to see expanded on so that groups of mobs genuinely work together in creative ways to kill players, beyond just mindlessly beating and nuking the tank.
Interdependence.
Vault-Tec analysts have concluded that the odds of worldwide nuclear armaggeddon this decade are 17,143,762... to 1.
The complex dungeons of DDO and the vast, open, and seamless world of Vanguard.
I kinda would like Vindictus' combat (actual player skill required to dodge, aim, and dmg)
tab target, roll checks for dodge, defense, and to hit? Not in my house!
Even though I havn't played it yet, I really like how The Secret World is handling character progression. Being able to customize my abilities any way I want is awesome.
