Having said that, it is clear they are aiming for a teen rating.  IMO this is stupid.  People are hyped from what they hear and see from korea.  Killing that is just dumb.  Not only that but killing it while taking more time to release (i'm sure this has something to do with it) is just killing hype level of this game.

The western team has made many bad decisions lately this is just another one.

Yeah the delay of this game just killed the hype for me, i doubt i'll pick it up now.

Oh yes the Elins and popori were well thoughtout when they were added to the game.  Those two races were purely for the easten market and just as the HE's & Amani's were for the west.  That being said their still fun as hell to play regardless of where you are from.

I could understand if some certain race would look really sexy, coming from some special environment or something. Where everyone looks sexy and wears little cloths. So be it.

 It's just that there is a trend to make every possible female in a game with overtop sexiness - very slim waist, very big boobs, all the shapes are overdone, you know. And not just one race.

By the way, i believe huge huge weapons doesn't add a lot to the immersion either...

But i hope Tera will do well - at least it's something different from all those tab targeting quest grinders.

Yes they seem to have some tools running the show there that believe censoring pg13/teen rated content in a M rated mmo is nessesary.

I'll bet had EME not knee jerked to the BS that trolls do on you tube and other sites nobody would have cared or given it much thought. But since they highlighted its a problem people just love to jump on board. People act like all Elin armor is this way and like the option to reskin doesn't exist.

Oh and censoring the mid rift section lol, seriously? What politicly correct moron thinks thats a good solution or nessesary.

Sexuality is about how people experience the erotic and express themselves as sexual beings.

This game includes panty shots.

Unless it actually deals with the erotic in any meaningfull way or allows you to express yourself sexually it does not include sexuality.

 

 

Don't dress something that's pubescent up as something that's mature.

Nothing wrong with puberty, but it's not nearly the same as maturity. And panty shots aren't nearly the same as sexuality.

 

Don't really have an opinion on the censoring. As far as I know the developers are censoring themselves, which they have a right to do. Everyone censors themselves when appropriate (I watch my language around young children for example). If the developers feel it's appropriate to censor their western release then that's their decision and I don't see how that's somehow a morally wrong decision to make.

I find it absurd that a female warrior would go out and battle in her Lingerie.  It's one of the dumbest aspects of MMORPG's.

I'm too lazy to wade thru 15 pages so if someone can clarify for me, are they seriously removing all of the 'sexy' elements from the game?  I can understand why they would choose to remove the questionable Elin armor, but messing with the Castanics, High elves, and everyone else seems like a little bit too much.

I mean, call me shallow or whatever, but that was probably one of the few things still keeping me interested in the game after what feels like years and years of still waiting for a release. The armor, while a bit too much for some, was so over the top (or so under the bottom. you choose haha) that it easily set TERA apart. This whole, toning down the sexiness thing strikes me as a move made out of fear rather than anything else.

And in any case, since you can, in fact, customize your armor, why remove all the ero bits? That seems to me that they aim on pleasing one crowd while completely forsaking another.

The more I see and hear about this game, the more I question if it will really be worth the wait.

It does not even matter really because you will be able to swap out the render files with the orginal renders.  EME is pretty much going to turn a blind eye to it also.

This actually makes me me happy and I am more interested in Tera now. The things they are removing were a total turn off for me, like it was designed for teeenage boys and horny sex-starved young adults and middle agers. It felt and looked tasteless. If the removal of the unecessary sex appeal is a deal breaker than I guess those individuals just weren't into the game as a whole or as much as they thought they were.

Of course I can't say that I am into every aspect of the game myself. The gameplay elements sound decent, the visuals look pretty good but the some of the eastern elements that showed up soured things for me; such as the over use of sexual appeal and some of the race designs. The Elins are just stupid; the cat girl design in TERA is particularily awful to me. The teddy bear/rodent race of the Popori is lame as well. The Castanics I can stand, although the outfits looked more like sex bodage party dress than the garb of any kind of adventurers /travlers.

Then there is the Amani race which I find to be awesome; I really want to play one. If it wasn't for that race I would pass on TERA, but I'm hoping to get a chance to try it out/test it in beta. Hoping...but not holding my breath.

Meh IMO they should have left the models as they were, insted of focusing ont he graphics they should work on making it more.. casual I guess for the westerners. The char models was one of tbhe unique draws to the game for me, and well, without them it just is gonna be another korean grinder. Also on the armor..

You can pull taxi drivers out of their vehicles and beat them to a pulp... beat up prostitutes and drive over pedestrians in games like Grand Theft Auto and... hey, that's fine! It's FUN!

Show a virtual character in a virtual thong and oh my... Better call the decency police! Someone might get offended!

The selective application of decency and outrage is certainly worth a chuckle. The sanctimony is something to behold.

Yeah I never understood it either, They can show over the top realistic looking gore with people getting their limbs, head, torso sliced in 2, with blood and guts everywhere, and that gets by no problem, but show a bit of skin on a pixel female char and all hell breaks loose. Anyway if they do heavily censor it, I bet someone will make a user made patch that removes the censoring, you can find nude patches for alot of popular mmo's, I personally don't use them but they do exist out there. For Tera it'd prob be as simple as changing the model and clothes files, just need to get the ones from the kr version.

I honestly think people in general need to learn to better seperate fantasy and reality. IRL your not gonna see a Elin swinging around an axe thats 3 times their size that looks like the axe swings her insted of her swinging it XD. If they wanna censor anything they should seriously consider going after games like call of duty, and battlefield, Since they both are a extremly realistic depiction of what combat is like.
