As above said, no full looting of corpses, though you can get any ressources (as in crafting materials) the person had on him/her (freshly harvested). Further more most likely your gear takes a hit and decays faster when you die.
Disappointing. Why resources only? Why not everything else that's not equipped? So killing people that don't do any harvesting (such as myself) will be pointless and fruitless.

There are a few reasons for this. For one, while they (Pitchblack Games) have said that they are targetting this game to be a niche MMO, it doesn't seem like the FFA, full loot niche is the one they're looking at. FFA games and pvp games with full loot can work if the game is designed for it, but this game is not.
Even if you don't personally harvest resources, you will be taking them off enemies that you kill. Crafted items in this game are going to be better than any others, and the advancement of technology and the requisition of resources are the key ingredients to getting a leg up on the other faction. Items will eventually loose durability and will have to be replaced. This makes resources valuable. Also, PBG have stated that they'd like to encourage players bartering with resources more than other games, rather than just using in-game money for everything.
While I understand the excitement behind full loot systems, I'm not a fan of them, and you have to admit it takes a certain kind of player to enjoy that system. Devs can't please everyone.

Well, I'm not looking for 'full loot' (which would be very cool). But if you bring 2 sets of armor and weapons and whatnot so that you can switch up and give yourself an advantage depending on the situation, you should lose whichever gear set you are not currently wearing. AoC had resource drop on PVP kills, and that was a massive fail, although resources seem to play a lot larger role in Prime, so there is still potential there, I hope looting of resources are going to be enough of a incenitive to engage people in open world.

There's nothing else then raw ressources in this game actually. There won't be any gear dropping from NPCs etc. All gear has to be crafted from said harvested ressources and that's why you can only loot those ressources.
All equipment as said allready decays over time and takes a bigger hit if you die. The whole purpose of this game is FvFvF warfare about the ressources with anything else just being added as an afterthought. The whole PvE-content is only there to have something to do while not engaged in PvP. There won't even be any balancing for PvE.
So yeah, basically it is full loot, as there's nothing else then ressources ^^
Killing other people won't be pointless and fruitless. You get skill points, and hopefully some sort of pvp points/advancement/credit/fame.
Not only that, but what 'is' really encouraging about this game, is that there is full-loot of your opponents resources. Resources such as prime drives ones' motivation for territorial control, to base-build, craft and develop.
I'm very relieved about that as it really does inject risk & reward back into an mmorpg, not withstanding 3-faction RvR.
Now sure, I would be even more happy if there was at least a 50% chance of 'one' item being dropped from your opponent when they are defeated (aside from all the resources), but with this current game-mechanics build, it is a far better balance between no death penalty while being able to be resurrected on the spot immediately with SW:TOR and full-loot drop (everything) upon death with Darkfall.

Well, if that's true, than I'm in. Devs should calrify.
A small chance to drop a single equipped item would also be super awesome, even if it's much less than 50%, even if it's a 5% that you drop one item.

Well I'd say that if you want the best gear in the game, you are going to fight for it
And what better way to set back your enemy then taking their resources that they will use to make and or barter for their gear.
All I heard was... "Well aren't you just a little lolly pop triple dipped in psycho."
