Meh, another bad devil's advocate that follows the same formula like the ones before it:
Common opinion: "Swans are white."
Devil's advocate: "On the contrary! A few swans are black. They could be a any color! I guess."
Common opinion: "So captain obvious told you that only 99,9% of swans are white? That is so deep!"
^Rofl, well put. That is the problem with the article, where are the "non-white" swans? Guessing does not budge the popular and mainly accurate conclusion:"Ignore brower mmos if you are looking for the top quality ones worth playing." All those online ads or facebook recommendations bombarding you about another browser game can still be MOST productively ignored.

unfortunately this counts for most client-based MMOs since 2004, too.

Of the browser games I've played & enjoyed: Outer Empires (current) & Runescape are the only ones that seem passably good. I'd be interested to know if there are any other good browser mmos out there?
I'm wondering if the lower tech requirements has inspired more innovation despite lower graphical quality? That's one of the big problems with the client mmos, the high cost / high risk and lack of marketing for the more oddball / less well known mmos.
A youtube comment that's not totally inane (what next!):
The animations and art is fine, its has great gameplay and it is very addictive. Building a dungeon of your own and filling it with monsters you have collected? then watching your dungeon get raided by others players is a very enjoyable. The community is very helpful andI'm having a blast. Give it a try and ignore the bad comments here by people who judge a game by watching a you tube video!
^To add: Turn-based combat. Not 100% sure what genre this is but if it's a "Dungeon Keeper MMO" then It's got potential!

I have played it for a couple of years, it's graphics are basic 2D and it is slow moving, but it is designed to have depth.
If you want a sandbox browser/iOS game with player driven economy give it a shot
Thank you, particuarly mumbojumbo for the excellent suggestions. That will start me off.
