Most of the news is disheartening, however i fail to see the probblem with being forced to connect to bnet? if you want to play single player don't join a  game with other players...simple? right? the only thing im not sure on is the real money for items

Making so much noise you dont know when to listen.

  • nickster29nickster29 Member Posts: 486

Wow, and here I was actually looking forward to this game.

No modding / online only is terrible, and the RMT is even worse.  You just know that Kotick had his hands in this, and I have no doubt that a portion of every RMT sale between players goes in his pocket.

This could be abused something horrible, as Blizzard could generate high end gear, sell it for real cash, and nobody would be the wiser.

Well, Blizzard, you just made it to my shitlist if this is true.  I am sure there is one hell of a party going down in the Runic Games office, as you just probably boosted the sales of Torchlight 2.

I was mildly interested in DIII. Afterall, I played DI and DII for some time. The deal breaker for me is the "cash trades" or real money auction house. TOO MANY games are taking on this model of cash shops, f2p or both. It will kill gaming in the long run.  Best thing (for me) stay away...stay far away.

Let's party like it is 1863!

Diablo 1 was dark and grity. Good story line and good game feel. They've moved to far away from that. Rather play Path Of Exile. Seems to be more mature with it's tone and theme them Diablo 3 is gonna be.

We waited all these years for a new Diablo game. Have sense enough see what happened to Duke Nukem Forever when it went full release?

When did you start playing "old school" MMO's. World Of Warcraft?

  • OnigodOnigod Member UncommonPosts: 756

or they will keep a few percent of every transaction made or they will sell stuff on the action house by making high end items out of thin air and sell it to players (and yes they will sell items themselves without players knowing every company would do it cus its all about money)

  • djnexusdjnexus Member Posts: 677

Screw Blizzard and Diablo 3, just because there previous games were good and a thing of the past doesent mean this will be. I will never support that company again.

  • Deathstrike2Deathstrike2 Member UncommonPosts: 1,777

Here's my concern.  If they think this is a good business move for D3, what are they planning for their upcoming new MMO?  I hope reality sets in before failure does.

I had two games on my wishlist, D3 and GW2.  Now I only have one.

So in short, they decided to knock out anybody with an unstable internet connection, tell every person that their own creativity is worthless, and legitimize chinese farming by taking a cut from it?

Le gasp, brilliant idea Blizzard.  Now to celebrate, I'm assuming they're going to go kick a puppy.

What if you don't have a steady inet conn? Or you want to play on your high-end gaming laptop while travelling?  They are taking away your choice to either stop piracy which is wrong because it only punishes the people who actually paid for the game not the pirates, or I feel what is probably more likely they just want to make sure everyone who plays is potentially an RMT customer.

this sucks, im deploying in about 6 months and i wanted to play this game while in iraq. oh well

There is also parallel AH which you can trade items for ingame gold if you don't want (or are stupid enough) to give Blizz and some random person your real money.

In Diablo 2 people were selling items on ebay for upward of 100$ so blizz just wants a piece of the pie. It was fine 10 years ago when it was done on ebay, but the sky is falling when blizz does it. You guys are hilarious.

As for online only, a lot of singleplayer games with absolutely no online component force you to stay online ( E.A. and Ubisoft games) and no one has a problem with it. They claim it's done to fight piracy, and while that point can't be debated to eternity, I  know i am always online when my PC is on, so it doesn't make a difference to me.

I know that Diablo 2 never came with a map editor/dev kit or allowed the use of add-ons and yet many people managed to mod it and release their own versions (Median being the most famous one). So i don't see why it can't be modded now.

D3 is a day one purchase for me and quite a few of my real life friends, and no i will never use real money to by pieces of pixels. I just need a quality dungeon grinder which lets me play with my friends, and from what i've seen so far from various podcasts it just gets better and better.

I'm interested to see how this will turn out. I feel kind of neutral about all this since I won't be playing multiplayer (so the AH and all that won't bother me).

It is a little disappointing that I won't be able to play the game while traveling or in non-wifi zones, but we'll see...

    bye bye Diablo 3.....

The online-only thing/cash trade doesn't shock me as it seems to be the way we're being dragged nowadays but what is the actual reason given for not allowing community mods to the game?

If you actually stop and think how much extra playtime modders tend to give us on our favourite titles it's kinda a kick in the teeth banning them outright...

"For a variety of gameplay and security reasons, we will not be supporting bots or mods in Diablo III, and they’ll be expressly prohibited by our terms of use for the game."
    - eh that's all I could see. Not really a compelling argument but there you go.
  • jinxxed0jinxxed0 Member UncommonPosts: 841

I wouldnt want most of you playing this either. That way there will be more costumers for me to sell items to for real money.

But seriously, you can use gold OR money. Stop being drama queens.

We are only being dragged there nowadays because people like you don't care enough to fight it by not buying the game.

    1) The game requires a constant internet connection. It cannot be played offline. (Nevermind that past Diablo games allowed SP gaming, and personally, I travel quite a bit and constant 'net connection is not a guarantee for me... useless game)

    2) Mods are “expressly prohibited. (Holy s**t, on a PC title?!?)

    3) Items in the auction house are bought and sold for real-life money. (Nickle and Diming Galore!)

    *sigh*

It's like they are trying to piss off their player base.

Only because they are so easy to piss off.

There is nothing here that worries me or puts me off. The RMAH is inspired and vastly preferable to a standard cash shop imo.

    People just like to drama.

Obviously this is to prevent the pirating and hacking of the game that would occur if it had a single player option.  Anyone who plays diablo seriously plays it online almost exclusively.  If people would stop trying to steal video games this would not happen.

This is the only gripe I do agree with.  I can't see why a modding system would not be allowed.

I know this is a touchy subject but here it goes.  This buying and selling of goods would happen if they didn't support it.  Remember SoJ, practically RL money trade right there.  This is just a safer more effective way for gamers to do what they are already doing.  No doubt blizzard will be taking pennies on each sale.  This is to be expected.  Honestly I support this system.

Especially Blizzard's players. The community mods couldn't post anything that didn't result in some sort of argument or flame war. People nitpicked every single word in every single post and would bring stuff up that was posted years earlier.

    This won't be any different.

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

s'alright. GW2 is still gonna be epic.

but seriously, id like to know who's behind this stuff. just curious. i boycotted blizz products a while back. sc2 is still cool i suppose.

I'm online all the time anyway.

I don't use mods. It's the best way to get malware and get your account hacked.

    3) Items in the auction house are bought and sold for real-life money.

I'm going to be the person hunting down rare items to sell so this doesn't bother me. But Paypal? WTF?

sadly, it's true though. look at WoW.  I won't be buying D3 just because of the RMT.

That's why you should only download them from reputable sites.

No mods won't stop me from buying Diablo 3 so Blizzard will still have my money but I fear it will hamper the longevity of the game. There are so many game i've played which would have been shelved after getting bored but have been played on and off for years due to some exceptional people in the modding communities. This is where I can see myself liking both D3 and Torchlight 2 but Torchlight being the game I play for longer.
