Dragon Nest Review, Does It Live Up To The Hype?

GeowashGeowash Member Posts: 372

I recently got into Dragon Nest and got around level 12 before I did this review, I thought at that level I knew reletively all I needed to know in order to do the review properly.

I want to hear your thoughts as well, after you get done watching the video, do you think I got it right? Or wrong? If you chose wrong tell me why. Im really curious to see how this game is doing in America.

I think your opinions are pretty accurate to my own regarding Dragon nest. However, I didn't agree with your expectations of the progression. I mean cmon  5 hours and you say youd be 30 in other MMO's. I think that when you level that fast in any game, leveling itself is pretty pointless. It's always a persons taste to determine what is too much grind vs. too fast exp.

I also agree that the hub type MMO's (if you want to call them that) aren't that fun. I am a very social gamer and I want to be in a persistent world where I do see others. I also agree that this is why I didn't care for GW1 but GW2 will be epic.

I didn't care for the game myself since it was more instanced than most of the other MMOs I have played. the controls were weird to me until I plugged a controler in. I liked that I could do that.

Yes progression is really a matter of opinion and you hit that spot on. The problem with me is im use to the level of progression that most MMOs have and it just feels like im being bogged down when I dont see my level curning numbers constantly. For example, in World Of Warcraft I expect to be max level with in about a week or less. In Aion I expect to hit max level after a month or longer. But with this game having a level cap of I believe 24... keep in mind that number is for Open Betas level cap only, I can see why they made the progression slow, but then again all they would have to do is scale the mobs and dungeons to provide the players with a larger level cap but a quicker progression. The same experience but it would give the illusion to people like my self that the leveling is faster.

Anyways yeah it is really a huge matter of opinion.. and you hit that SPOT on.

    I agreed with it..

Lobby based , gender locking and grind based action games may be the hip new thing but they are a turn off to me..

I tried this game, got a whiff of the new game smell and fell bored pretty quickly..

What is the difference between killing 20 mobs in an open world field and clearing the same dungeon 20 times?

To answer your question... the fact I get to see other players doing that. Dragon Nest to some extent takes the MMO out of MMORPG just like Guild Wars did with it only being persistent in towns. Personally I like to see other players which is why I will like Tera, on the other hand this will be the first F2P Action MMORPG that I hit level cap... so it must be doing something right lol. I agree though, not much changed from the mold of Action MMOs coming out, but I dig the style this game brings.
