Thanks.
That's how I feel here. Like we have had ALL debates already 1000 times, the same people will say the same things, I already know all that will be said.
Why sanxboxes are roxxor and themepark sux.
Why WOW is teh ebil.
Why game X failed.
...
I just wanted to say that. Thanks, move along. These aren't the droids you're looking for.
And if you don't know Groundhog Day, the film... please die in a fire. =P

While I found your last comment rather lame, I do know the feeling you are describing.

lol this forum is the most negative gaming forum youll find anywhere other similar and popular forums like this one (wich i wont mention) is positive about every game and share their builds and gameplay videos and help each other with quests.
also the articles tend to find it more important to post the negative side of games then positive.
Ahhh screw it I haven't played an MMORPG for atleast a year now so if I'm gonna flush my cash down the shitter it may as well be on a Star Wars MMORPG made by Bioware! I'm not expecting them to save the genre, aslong as I can be a BH and gang up with my other middle aged friends to victimize teenaged children ingame I'll be happy, ahh just like the old days in SWG
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience"

agree wholeheartly with this sentiment. half the threads in this site were made to discuss the same bunch of topics that we were discussing in 2005....
Something bad happened to you when you tried SWTOR. Something bad and dark.
An honest review of SW:TOR 6/10 (Danny Wojcicki)
Just the nature of human discussion. Particularly when mods are so..diligent about keeping conversations focused.
Also natural is that if someone doesn't like discussing MMORPGs, they won't visit (or continue visiting) a MMORPG forum. MMORPGs are a narrow theme even without moderation, so discussion repeats are inevitable.

Why game Y will fail when it launches
Oh, you noticed? Funny.
No, you mix it up. Something dark happened to me these months. Kinda like all the rose nicety curtain before the world was torn down and I finally saw the naked reality in all its terrible and mundane ugliness. That I personally came to understand there is only one reality: you HAVE power, or you don't. That family, friends, virtues, truth all these are empty words and humans are monkeys who always blabber the same words over and over.
... Oh isn't it a nice weather? Oh my we never had so much rain, didn't we?
That in the end, every person no matter how much he/she claims to love you will in the end forsake and betray you, and that every system and ideology is just a cage, every single one.
But maybe I should not say that. After all, I am just a nameless bloke in a game forum, but since you saw... I thought to honor your with honesty. Take it or leave it.
BUT that has nothing to do with SWTOR. Eau contrair mon capitan. It just looks that way because my overall nihilistic mood overshadows my postings about SWTOR. I am still greatly looking forward for SWTOR, so go figure.
Maybe facing the Sith ideology in practice was a catalyst. Who can say. They are evil. But maybe they see the world as it really is? And not with the wishful bunny dream of the Jedi?
Must think of this. Rorschach journal over.

The wishfull bunny dream and all the polite niceties we observe and our foolish clinging to virtues and other drivel are all that keep us from kiling each other in the streets and descending into utter chaos.
Anyway, this thread gives me deja vu (probably mis-spelled that). What you pointed out has been pointed out before and will be again. Your defeatest philosophical ramblings have been rambeled before and will be again.
And there are no origianal jokes.
A "positive" forum where it's all sweet, polite, love, and flowers and peace and shit? How BORING. And....well....creepy. No thank you. I'll stay here. It's more.....interesting.

Personally I'd prefer some more substance, common sense and intelligent debate to the discussions, but for the lulz there's no beating mmorpg.com when it comes to hilarious discussions that are still about MMO's

Substance, common sense, and intelligence? What planet are you from? We're talking gamers here. We eat chips and Ramen noodles and drink energy drinks....our brains are probably starved for nutrition. We cut our hours for sleeping so we can raid longer.....you're expecting substance, common sense, and intelligence from us? Man you are a true taskmaster....a slavedriver....a....I forgot what I was thinking.....lack of sleep, sorry.
MMORPG.com....it's for the LULZ....for sure. We all need lulz.

I see where the OP is going, and agree with it to a large degree. The MMORPG community isn't homogenous - and not everyone wants the same thing. There are a few, however, that believe their personal vision on MMOs is the ONLY valid vision, so we get the same arguments, time after time. Not necessarily the same exact people, but the same arguments from entrenched positions.
At Massively today, they published what I think is a brilliant article on the nature of those that are clearly obsessed with hating games. It's a great read.

Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned.
Not all of us, or at least not through this particular medium.
It's a shame more than anything, because at the time of it's inception MMORPG.com was a premier, top notch source for news related to Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Games. These days it pales in comparison to what it once was.
At one time it was actually all about the news, not the "lulz".
Indeed.
I am just old and worn out. Don't mind me. I just think those who work for a better world, whom I sincerly wish luck, should again accept what now is forgotten: that good intentions need power, might to manifest them and nice debates alone rarely change a thing. Sometimes we need to got to war to attain peace. Proverbial mostly, but sometimes even real.
As to the topic: I found more and more I stay out of these game debates. I have seen it all so often and nothing came out of it.

Wow, after six years on this website this is the first thing you say! You aren't a man of many words, eh? Well, someone has to balance all of us here, I guess.

Most've gone sick of numb of raiding so replace that for some conversation quality time on the forums, you know you can do it

Yeah, I know that feeling. It is depressing knowing that we can never have any real influence on this silly hobby we're so obsessed with. We can talk about it all we want but we're just banging our heads against the wall, it isn't going to change anything.
That's even more true now than it once was I think. When the total number of MMO players was smaller and there were fewer games and the industry was still really just getting started I think develpers paid more attention to what people on this site had to say. Even then I don't suppose they put much weight on forum debates but I think they paid a little attention. Now I doubt if any devs give a damn at all what anyone says on any message board.
Sometime I think the only reason I bother posting here at all anymore is just to practice my typing.
