D3 - Auction House. Whats really going to happen.

Now its been known since the dawn of mmo that gold farmers exist. No they are not bots they are actual people sitting in sweatshops being forced to play the game the many of us enjoy. In this article http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/may/25/china-prisoners-internet-gaming-scam it is shown that China uses prisoners to gold farm and if they do not meet a "quota" they will get tortured.

Now what many of us do not realize or think of is Blizzard takes a fee a grand total of 3 times. http://us.blizzard.com/en-us/company/events/diablo3-announcement/index.html#auction:auction-faq

1. A fee to list the item

2. A fee when the item gets sold

3. A fee when you want your money.

So what does this mean for these item and gold "farmers"?  Nothing, they will bypass the auction system all together sell thier items and make more money bypassing the middle man Blizzard. Also IF they decide to use the ingame Auction whats going to happen to prices?

The farmers will dominate the auction listings and be able to undercut YOU the average player simply because they have the supply for it. You the average player will just pay a listing fee and lose out on money because blizzard demands a fee to post your listing.

Either way You lose out on money if you try to use the auction house, Chinese gold farmers lose nothing and auction house only provides another avenue to sell items and blizzard prints free money.

What's the incentive for people to trade when they have the option to sell items for real life money? I know if I got a rare item I wouldn't want to trade it.. I'd want to sell it for cash.

    * Honest question. Don't really know anything about the game.

And if its only a few pennies? Battle.net account gets caught and banned that means no WoW, no Starcraft, no Diablo. I think I'll pay the few cents extra.

If you consider buying or selling virtual goods, you should ask yourself this question: "Why do I play games?"

Please continue discussion in the already open thread on the Auction House instead of creating new ones.
