Well my speakers dont work and this happened after i put my new video card in awhile ago, decided to bring this up now becuase its annoying i hate wearing my headphones to play music. Now i have the Logitech X-540 but im not using the full thing only 2 speakers and the center one. None of the sound works but i put it on and the sound bar is going up and down as if its working but nothings coming out of the speakers which is weird and i have everything connected right. I put in my headphones and the sounds works fine in them.

Dunno Tim, Ive had a few PC's that wont play sound through the headphones unless I select Headphones, in windows, and, in the mixer. Also my roomates PC won't play sound through his little bookshelf speakers, unless I select headphones for them. Probably something to do with the impedance of the speakers, in my situation.
Maybe just double check your, mixer/soundboard, to see if you've got all the settings right. Thats all I can think of, ATM.
Im guessing your new GPU is what your running sound through? If so start there and take another look, (thought I haven't run sound through a GPU) Im assuming there is a UI soundboard/mixer of some sort.
And if your running through, on board, or a sound card, same thing.
And if you've done that, heck IDK.
They worked right, before your new GPU? Might be a clue there. There is another setting to run sound through front and rear panel or ports, at the same time, which would only mater if you are doing that, maybe double check it.
Hope you get it working, you've really put a lot of time into that rig. Good luck buddy, it'll work out.
It sounds like you probably have an on-board sound card?
When you plug the speakers in the audio jack your computer should recognise them and ask what you plugged in to configure it for you ( I have never tried without Realtek HD Audio Manager, so this might not be the case ) Make sure you select headphones and not speakers.
If you are not prompted to select what audio device you plugged in you need to find a way to tell your computer they are headphones. that should fix your problem
Make sure you set the speakers as the default output device in Realtek HD Audio Manager.
ive tried to make it my default thing and i disable everything else that could be using sound or w/e and still doesnt work. At a point when i had it on the speakers made Static noise but i switched the speakers and it doesnt do that anymore
I think... you have the absolute worst luck when it comes to computers. You should start hiring the Geek Squad to come out and fix it.
The Windows sound managing appliication and the relevant manufacturer's application/driver must match each other. If you have Windows 7 go to the Control Panel > Category, Hardware and Sound> Sound and find out what your speakers are set to.
If you have the ubiqutous on-board sound hardware Realtek Audio then you will also find their Realtek HD Audio Manager in the Control panel. Make sure both of those applications agree on the speaker settings.
Also in the Control Panel find the Device Manger application and check under the "Sound, video and game controllers" section that any sound devices are enabled by right clicking on them, selecting Properties and looking for enabled/disabled settings.
ya i actually just been having bad luck in general....rofl and no geek squad sucks i know more shit about computers then they do lol
check your defaulth playback device.. videocards have hdmi and those are sound outlets , i know little about the pc sound system its the thing i always had least to do whit but its either a plain setting coz the device is working (you see sound movement bar) or a device compability problem and thats highly unlikely these days.
the headphone you have is probaly a USB device? those have thier own soundcard build in and take over the device settings automaticly.
you could jsut remove your basic sound drivers and reinstall them after a reboot, that often simply sets things back to defaulth and "fix"things
its still not working and im not using hdmi only dvi
