What?  Old MMORPG leveling experience?  It's the easiest it's ever been in WoW.  I got to max level in about 2 weeks and I don't even consider the way I played to be hardcore (at least not the way I used to play).  Aside from the fact that I didn't recieve shitloads of loot off every kill, I couldve swore I was on a private server.  Maybe not on private server with a huge increase like 100x exp, but compared to the old WoW, the exp was coming in so quick.

I'm not sure if they made the mobs weaker, but it really felt like they did.  I was killing mobs in 3 attacks all the way to 80.  Once I got into the Cata zones the mobs felt normal to me.

personally I like how easy it is to level now, because it's boring as fuck.  Saying it feels like the old MMORPG leveling experience is kind of absurd, though.

I think he was answering Itchmon about the AOC reference. I coulld be wrong. WoW definatley doesn't have that old mmo feel by any stretch.  Also the mobs being easier. I said this in my earlier post, when wow had a patch that streamlined the skilltrees and gave each one it's specialty (bloodthirst for exapmle for fury war)  and made each ability a one time train vs buying each rank, they didn't alter the mobs at all. I rolled a warrior and ran around naked pulling large groups of mobs and killed them with no problem. They shoulda scaled the mobs but they didn't. Game was easy to the point of tears so we walked away never to look back.

just play the unlimited free trial (limits you to level 20 i think) untill you get bored of it again in 2 weeks time. seriously, this game is old, dull and repetitive.

To you... I am enjoying wow and have been for a couple years.

After six years you will probably find it old, dull, and repetitive.  A lot of the people on here who feel negatively about WoW used to play it, played it too much and too long and became utterly burnt out.  They're bitter about it  (some of them).  Others just really never liked the game.  Either way, there will always be people who enjoy it and who don't....for whatever reasons.

I feel that way about just about every MMO out there these days.  I started MMO's when they started, 15? years ago and I've seen them slide downhill ever since... started with The Realm (not really an MMO, I guess), then UO, EQ, AC, etc.. played countless others.

What I miss the most is exploring.  Really.  It's DEAD in most any MMO I've come across.  In UO, you could just equip yourself, and just head in any direction, never knowing what you were going to find.  I loved that.. they drew it staight from the CPG's I played and loved in my teens.

I CAN'T STAND the cookie-cutter unlimited and immediate respawn areas of the EXACT same monsters in almost every game now.. especially the Asian grinder-games.  Imagine if you went to the mall (or anywhere), and saw the same exact people standing in the same exact places there, every SINGLE time you went there... silly analogy, I know..  but you get the idea.

I like the idea that I can head out into the forest behind my house, and I NEVER know what I'm going to run across that day, to a degree.. and with a fantasy MMO, there's even more variety, or well, used to be.. now it's just the same mobs or npcs at the same spawn points, barely wandering around, or just standing there, all the time.

I remember Ultima 6 and 7 where the npc's had schedules would go to their shops to work, or their farms, then go home at night, eat dinner, then go to bed... where is this in ANY mmo these days?

    Sorry.. I'm ranting... anyway...

Thats because the target audience for mmo devs are people with low IQ, if you get too complicated you lose your target audience. And that carrot on a stick is fascinating!

Fascinating. So you need a higher IQ in order to have fun with something?

Its less IQ, and more how to engage IQ, Ie actually use imagination  rather than require to be spoonfed, which is what blizzard cultivates.
