Basically, what makes this different from WoW and every other MMORPG? I do love SW admittedly but still.

    quests

    classes

    crafting

    pets

    levels

    pve

    pvp

wow didnt invent any of it, wow contains it all, all mmos have some version of most or all of the list, thats the mmorpg genre outline.

swtor will have these things, doesnt make it wow.  doesnt make it not feel like wow either though.  only the gameplay can tell you how the game will play, and it aint out yet.

From what ive seen its mostly the same Themepark style with the Bioware Touch. If you liked Mass effect and DA 2 story telling then you will most likely enjoy SWTOR. To be honest I am bored to death of wow, only reason I am still playing is because I enjoy raiding but besides that the game is dead to me. Even trying to level an alt feels boring because I already know the lore behind them. Supposedly SWTOR will fix that as each class has a different story making it unique, so in short, you can level 1 char then if you are bored level another and feel a  completely different story. As far as everyrthing else goes, I am afraid it will be like wow but I really dont mind that since I am not bored of the mechanics per say just the world in general and the fact taht there is nothing to do.

With that said, I already preordered by CE copy and I am happily waiting for launch.

At least with a sub game they know that people won't tolerate bullshit and leave. With anet we have no recourse but to buy our own lube so our assholes don't get too stretched out from getting bent over a table at Anets will. - Hrimnir

I never said wow invented all that. If the game plays like wow though then whats the point? May as well play WoW

if its wow with a new skin gameplay its not worth playing.  if it doesnt play like wow then its good.

its bioware though and i dont think it will play like wow, ce preorder in on amazon.com

You have a personal story based on your class, and you can make important decisions which go one way or the other, and then live with the result. I'd say this is the biggest difference. ^^

    I preordered. ;)

    Never pre-order an MMO.

“It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money - that's all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.”

Don't pre-order.  It's not like they are going to RUN OUT OF MMO to sell you.  Unless you wait until they pull the plug on the servers at least.

Only Siths preorder, they dont' have patience or virtue.

Go read the FAQ on the SW:TOR site and read the information on the Holonet and you will find your answer.

I've pre-ordered most mmorpgs. Im a mmorpg enthusiast and have a suckers perception of 'hope' that they contain enough monthly content, breadth and depth of open-world and instanced pve & pvp to make progressive gaming, community-centric and massively-multiplayer engagement, and orgainc elements fresh and entertaining with each play session.

There are several I would never pre-order, because I'm not into the type, such as heavy anime games, super-hero games, pve-only games, and I am growing tired of the fantasy model.

I've enjoyed my "journey" in EQ, AC, DAoC, WoW, and the list goes-on through to Rift.  I hate the insulting and repetitively shallow end-game lobby-system single-player-esque game-play of playing the same exact content over and over, running the same Raid maps ad naseum or battleground third-person suicide bomber maps ad nauseum that have absolutely no lasting orgainc or massively-multiplayer entertainment nutrition.

I am going into SWTOR with the same expectation that I will definitely enjoy the journey, and after a few months I can cancel my subscription with no harm,no foul.  I will expect to get as much entertainment out of SWTOR than I have out of several other Bioware games, dating back to Baldurs Gate.

As with most other mmorpg enthusiasts over the last several years, myself included among the millions that have left those games 3-6 months-out, it is Biowares own to have enough engaging, inorganic and organic content, frequent and fresh updates, to retain more of their player-base than less of it.

Bioware has a solid reputation, though that in no-way translates into a mmorpg reputation.  I am not a fan of the Hero Engine and their cartoony graphics by any means.  But on this one, I will throw caution to the wind, based on their efforts and broad-stroke entertainment pursuits (save no space content), because no way in hell can it be worse than the trajedy that is known as Star Trek Online, I 'hope'.

I may still get the game but probs wont pre order then

  • azmundaiazmundai Member UncommonPosts: 1,419

    I havent yet.

As innefective as it will be, my plan for the future is to pre-order at the last possible moment, for headstart.

If enough people did this .. it might help a little .. probably not a lot.

Then again if enough people did this, then companies would actually do what SWTOR pretended to do with it's first bought first in BS.

LFD tools are great for cramming people into content, but quality > quantity.

i preordered this game so damn hard, my credit card company called me and asked me if everything was ok and if it was actually me that had made the purchase. I bitch slapped that CS agent and said, foo dont you know this is the SWTOR preorder. You better recognize mother f$cker and then hung up the phone on their bitch ass.

    1. All the story lines and quests ect are 100% voice acted.

    2. most XP is gained from completeing story arcs not grinding mobs.

    3. 200 hours worth of story based content per class.

    4. SOE has NOTHING to do with this game.

    5. Bioware are making this game.

    6. I find your lack of faith disturbing.

Sounds to me like you'll be playing a Sith Sorcerer at launch?

Bioware game so lots of RPG. Softcore porn at the end of the game after you woo over a bland and generic Bastila or Carth wannabe from leveling 1-100. Hopefully can kill Carth just like they did in Mass Effect. And spit in Bastila's face for being a cunt.

Beyond the story which most will skip since most people can read faster then the people read the lines to them. Plus choices which are broken down like this:

    A. good
    B. middle
    C. evil
    D. tell me more crap on this subject

Cover system will be just like Mass Effects. So enjoy coming out of cover and getting raped because their is no dodge or roll system implemented to change from cover to cover.

Rest of the game will be the same old traditional MMO stuff. Healers and DPS spamming in town "LF SI(Sith Inquisiter) for Star Forge run! PST". Expect lots of lightsabers and Revan wannabe's and grinding through a story line no one will understand or care for after the next 50 levels.

End game will be gear grind and idiots spamming in major cities. Expansions will just add more gear grind.

Welcome to the world of MMO's. You were expecting something new? Cause it sure as hell wont be anything you haven't played before.

When did you start playing "old school" MMO's. World Of Warcraft?

Mace Windu has interference from another player. He was actually winning the battle until the other player character got invovled and distracted him and gave time for the losing side to get off a push attack that threw him out of the window.

In a stand up fight 1 on 1 i think Mace would have won.

Help me Bioware, you're my only hope.

Is ToR going to be good? Dude it's Bioware making a freaking star wars game, all signs point to awesome. -G4tv MMo report.
