I played GW1 Trial a couple of times, and wasn't thrilled so I didn't sub. Nothing really grabbed me is all, and it felt bland.
However, GW2 looks like a total overhaul of the game, not only from the visual perspective, but from what the game presents in game-play (e.g. supposedly persistant recognition of you, as a player, and what you've done in the world), destructable artifacts, etc.
Graphics are stellar, beautiful, great creature designs and animations, tricksy combat effects.
Watch their trailers, particularly the "Manifesto" one.
At the very least GW2 is the one I'm checking out next to see if the advertising delivers what I think I see in my head at the moment.

Two ENTIRELY different games. GW1 wasn't even an MMORPG. And what are you talking about above with the "I didn't subscribe to it" on GW1? GW1 didn't HAVE subscriptions, same as GW2. Yes, the games are related, but they're not the same with updated graphics or something. Nope.
I agree with the good things you said about GW2, but it seems you're a bit misinformed about GW1, and maybe 2 as well.....GW2 is a lot more than just updated graphics, and some gameplay changes.
Actually......no. Regardless, what does that have to do with GW2 which is an entirely different game? It's not even in the same genre. GW1 was a CORPG and GW2 is an MMORPG......
Seems some douchecanoe tactics are being used to try to derail the thread. This thread is about RIFT, not GW1 OR 2.
I like this, very much. I expect to see badass looking animations and really effective spells. Level 50+ should be better combat and better content than it is from 1-50.
Why 50+ content and combat need to be different is because you can't get any levels and at endgame the content and combat NEED you to get hooked. Look at games like LoL, HoN,Dota,Champions of Norrath,Diablo 3 and such. The combat there is very strategic, fps, fast and fun.
Only mmorpg we will see with this soon is GW2. FUN FUN FUN FUN.
MMORPGs like Wow,Rift, Aion and all Korean mmorpgs does'nt have this in their combat. If Rift really want to be a good game, change the combat at 50, or the combat for all levels and make it FUN.
I do agree that Rifts combat mechanics really could use some updating/revamping. But remaking a basic mechanic like that is a lot of hard work and the only MMO I know of that did something similar was SWG and that could have turned out better.
I don't think Trion will take the risk, but it can of course change if the winters launches hurt the game.
Well, it's very clear by now what it takes for an MMO to survive when better games than RIFT have perished: a dedicated dev team that doesn't have its head in its ass.
I do feel bad for TRION though. The MMO playerbase is very fickle, and SWTOR fans seem to be the worst of the lot... I don't see a tonne of people playing once SWTOR comes out.
My best to Trion; I sincerely hope their AA and Chronicles rock. Personally, I can't and won't touch the game again until they add some aesthetic dimension to it. Real shame, because the first level levels were a joy.

Wherever you go, there you are.

AND....what does this have to do with the topic of this thread? Not a damn thing.

GW1 wasn't awful, it just wasn't a persistent world like most MMORPG's. It was entirely instanced.
I feel it was a good story based Multiplayer Online RPG, with decent cinematics.
With that said, everything I've heard so far GW2 is going to be nothing like it.
Actually......no. Regardless, what does that have to do with GW2 which is an entirely different game? It's not even in the same genre. GW1 was a CORPG and GW2 is an MMORPG......

I need to take this advice more.
Nice try. Stay on topic and stop baiting people to turn this into a GW2 thread.
