Vampire the masquerade MMORPG

Hi,
just a thought. While playing the excellent Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines I was thinking what a great MMORPG it would make. Especially with the potential to get involved in full world of Darkness politics, alliances etc etc.
I then took this further, and being a fan of White Wolf games and all their pen and Paper storyteller games, I thought it could work across a number of their games. Maybe add different supernatural player choices as major expansions. Vampire, werewolf, changeling, wraith, hunter etc etc (I can't see mage working though as it's far too open ended).
This could add to a great pvp situation. With vamp vs vamp combat being frowned upon, and even blood hunts against those that do it. Same with Werewolf vs werewolf. BUT, the option for creature vs creature is great. Imagine you all look humanoid normally, walking down the same streets etc, but if word got round that a certain person was an enemy, a gang of you could ambush them in human form things like that.
Just wondered what everyone else thought?

Chris

I don't know much about the White Wolf games, but I've read a thread with a bunch of hard core WW game players and they basically all said, it can't be done well. Their reasonings varied from the games require a storyteller to something about playing 2 different characters, one during the day and one during the night ... I'll see if I can locate that thread...

    That is absolutely correct.

It's part of the original promise of the original Vampire: the Masquerade game...the concept of a storyteller, which is so vital to creating a good horror story. Unfortunately, the tools for implementing that promise were rather poor...and it never really manifested properly.

I wish. I wish I wish I wish. I would love this. But honestly its a balancing nightmare. Have you seen how overpowering some disciplines are in WW compared to others? :P

(I can't see mage working though as it's far too open ended).

Mage doesn't even work on pen and paper its not going to work in an MMORPG.

I think this is a game they should be working on.  Start off with vampire then make a  Garou expansion, and so on.

I think what would be really cool is starting off everyone as a regular human.  Then whenever a Vampire PC finds and wants to bite you get embraced.  Then yuo become part of a big vampire family like...

Oh wait, if you have ever read the books you know that the whole idea behind VtM is to keep your powers hidden.  How could this game work if everyone running around was a vamp.   A ratio of 1 vampire to every 100,000 humans is roughly what is required to maintain the Masquerade.

I see no way they could stay true to the spirit of the game and make a VtM MMORPG

Hey, guess what? I actually found the thread I was thinking about, and guess where it's posted? MMORPG.com. :)

Anyway, THIS is the thread I was talking about where some of the people here pointed out parts of the WoD PnP game which won't convert well over to a computer game.

A 3D vamp MMO could be awesome!

It took me longer than I will admit to find it again for this, but I am hoping for some more info on Blood Nation with great anticipation!
