whatever will happen to phantasy star?

Ever since sega decided to never make a new console ever, i've been pining over this loss. Not only does it seem that the famous RPG series Phantasy Star is lost to us for ever, but many of the other extra cool titles that existed on this console may be lost forever (shinobi, strider, etc.). I have played every game in the Phantasy Star series and liked these games alot. Do you think that sega will continue making games for other consoles; and if so, do you think there will ever be another Phantasy Star title?

Phantasy star still lives, both online and offline with phantasy star universe.

The end has not come yet.

Type Seed Game into your search engine. Go to the game's website and learn about it. It may be the best game you've continued to ignore.

You just missed the band wagon... They released their plans and canceled a Phantasy Star Online MMORPG for XBoxLive in the past year or so.

Well.... there's always the Gamecube version of PSO......

Phantasy Star Online X for the XBox has been out for awhile  but it's really hard to find. It also was released before XBox live and I'm not quite sure how that works.

There's Phantasy Star Universe wich is supposed to be Sega's answer to FFXI but they've released very little infor about it.

Finally, there's Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst for the PC. I don't know if this will ever be released in the US, but you can get a demo at fileplanet.

Personally, I'd like to see PSO on the Nintendo DS since it's working on a graphics level that's close to the Dreamcast. Plus, you could use the bottom screen as a keyboard. I also like the idea of playing the game whenever and where ever I feel like it.

I have no idea what kind of timeline you're on... why would they release PSO for XBox before it had online capabilities?

PSO works just like XBox as it does on Dreamcast, except you get a mic with it and can talk to the people you're playing with, rather than typing everything out.

The XBox was launched with an ethernet adapter built into the console. This was usually used to provide LAN capabilities but some games were "tunneled" through the internet via third party progams. Of course, there was nothing stopping Sega from making an internet game that automatically connected to their own servers.

In short, the XBox had online capabilities long before XBox Live.

Phantasy Star Online was released after the Xbox live launch. I have it on GC and XBOX, and i was a beta tester for Xbox live. You can even see the xbox live logo on the top of the box on www.gamestop.com.

I have PSO 1 and 2 for gamecube! IT IS SOOOOO AMAZING! I love it! I used to play it all the time. The Third one is the card one which I don't like cards so I didn't buy it. But, the First and Second are awesome!image

ah phantasy star - i couldnt help but smile when i saw this thread!! altho i have never really played the older games, as a Sega-nut i was pretty addicted to the Dreamcast and Gamecube incarnations of the series. Never played Ep3 tho but that's mainly as my gf still has my gamecube!! ::::16:: lol

i really hope the series continues mostly on GC as that does seem to be the most suitable platform. Does anyone else here have memorable PSO chars? my main one was an eponymous very cool level 106 RAmar with a deep grey/blue ranger suit and ... pink hair!
