Are political threads OK? I did not see anything banning them in the rules but considering there are no warnings I want to be sure. I had never even heard there was such a thing as limiting General Discussion... Then I won a Face Of Mankind beta acount (Thanks MMORPG.com!
) and went there and on my third post got my thread closed for political reasons. Pretty lame if you ask me but you can;t argue with the moderators.
So my question is: Can I post political threads?

Well personally I was always one who loved Political Threads. And even though I don't always agree with the decision of limiting them, I can definitely see where they're coming from.
Political Threads usually devolve into flaming, personal insulting, obscene use of language. And because of this, our Moderation team usually tries to nip it in the bud.
Until there is a special board with close moderation intentionally meant for Political discussion; I'd suggest against starting a politically heated thread.
Now this is something I've been meaning to talk to Admin about starting, (Political board) which I'd gladly watch over.
Maybe a petition should be started to get a board dedicated to these type of subjects. Because until then, you'll rarely find a thread of political orientation that doesn't "poof".

Ya, I see where you are coming from.
I have been in many political posts that did not disolve into insulting though. And very few that have.
Guess I am in the wrong places.
Yeah they loook down upon political threads round these parts. Makes me sad because I love debating politics but I guess thats for another time and place. To tide me over I just use my avatar.
yea, I enjoyed them for like the first 2 pages, because then the threads burst aflame! so I just use my quote...lol

I have always found that its best to keep politics out of game and I would think that mmorpg.com would be better off without it also, If you want to talk politics go to a political forum.....
Most folk play games to escape or get away from all that RL stuff (I know I do) why people feel the need to carry it into a game world/game forum I will never know.
When a game forum is hijacked I usually bail.
I agree for the most part but the only thing I would say is it is in the off-topic forum. I have seen a lot of stuff dealing with real life issues on this side but politics just don't fit. That said I do agree though. Knowing how people are on here EVERY thread turns into flames so a political one would probably be even worse.
Trust me, you don't want to see it. I can describe it... Picture three people (one democrat, one republican, and one foreignor) Throwing flaming feces at each other. Then smashing eachothers faces into that flaming feces. All while having other people (not in the main conversation) throwing gasoline on them and caushing a larger fire.
You don't want to see it. It's a horrible sight.
With that said, I can draw my conclusion again that I would rather not have them here (and they are being locked for good reasons) I know I've been one of the people throwing flaming feces at eachother (specifically throwing and receiving to saigonshakes..lol), and I apologize for past political talk. (saigon and I aren't mad at eachother anymore...the elections change people)
