Time to get rid of the mail function

Seriously.  All it has become is a spam magnet.  I get more spam mail to this account, which I use for absolutely nothing, than I do to a yahoo account I set up like 7 years ago.

 

Give us the functionality to send PMs but get rid of the mail.  Yes I know some people use it.  Yes, I know it is a nice convenience and perk to the site.  But unless you plan to make it a more robust program, like yahoo or gmail, then lets can it please.

    Not to bump my own thread, but the spam is out of control.  Yeah it's not like gmail spam, but it is very bad.  I can't go a day without 2 spam mails from random sources.  Please, if you are going to keep the mail, give us some tools filter it out.

    I'm not getting spam mail  either.

    None.  I didn't even know there was a public mail function.

    Ken Fisher - Semi retired old fart Network Administrator, now working in Network Security.  I don't Forum PVP.  If you feel I've attacked you, it was probably by accident.  When I don't understand, I ask.  Such is not intended as criticism.

    I'm trying to figure out when that happened, because I don't recall ever telling anyone this email.  Ever...

     

    But I have been getting spam for about a year.  Interestingly, it is all WOW gold spam, and yet the only WOW I played was open beta back in the day.  The good news is that I know their phishing emails could never pertain to an actual account of mine.

    Wow. This is news to me. I had no idea it was possible to even use this email outside of the site. Like are the PMs we get....don't those go to email?  That's all I ever get here, just private messages from other users.
