EVE Online
Huge battles, lots of people to play with and you can pay for your subscribtion with in game currency.

I haven't really played it, but that sounds like Aika to me. They've been boasting that they support up to 1,000 vs 1,000 at the same time. If you're interested and live in NA, I suggest the global version over the NA version because it's run by a much better company.
