Great, more money going to China...I stopped my subscription as soon as I heard about the buyout. I suggest others do the same. If any of you wonder why, just research how China expands their boundaries nearly daily farther into international waters. Do not support Communism!!
Check your home and you will surprised how many things that you own are made in China. be prepeared to clear out your home first if you don't want to support communism. How about you start with throwing out your PC parts first?
I purchased the lifetime sub from the get go. I knew I was taking a gamble on it, and unfortunately for me, I lost.
I've left STO installed, but have logged in only a few times in the last year. For me, its the item shop that really turns me off of the game.
If Cryptic did away with the item shop altogether, added that content into the game with no other intent other then to better the game, and then diverted their resources towards gameplay and mechanics, the game might stand a chance of bringing in myself and potentially alot of other players.
Item shops are best left to F2P games, that are shallow and not targeting the Trek or SWs fan demagraphics.
Item shops = a guy in a trench with cheap knockoffs for sale.

Wouldn't giving money to a Chinese corportation be fighting communism? I mean if PWI was owned by the state I would see your point, but it is a publicly traded company on Nasdaq....
Yes I'd rather see American industry strong and vibrant, but Chinese corporations do not really support communism, that's pretty much a silly argument when they are publicly traded and integrated into the global capitalist market place.

I have to agree. The item shop is what really ruins the game as a viable MMO for me.
okay let me sum it up for you people who think that STO doesn't have potential. They have listed many an items to be revamped since PW took over including but not limited to, missions, rewards, single shard sector space (no more load screens between zones), revamped emblem gathering for equipment all coming soon. Not to mention they have done a fantastic job with ground combat that was a big time saver there!
