Any tips on finding my fit in today's MMORPGs?

TL;DR: Will there ever be another long-term game for me?

Quick history: EQ1 1999-2004, CoH 2004-2005, WoW 2005-2009

Other games I tried mostly for a couple of months but none of them have stuck.

At max on my first toon in Rift the RL friends I played with got bored and quit the game, or RL stepped in and prevented them from playing. Grouping with my friends was the only reason I ever stepped into raids (WoW), and the main reason I'd repeat dungeons (otherwise once or twice is enough).

Now I find myself jumping from F2P to F2P title because they are free and I can do the same quest grinding or mob grinding as P2P games and if I get close to endgame, or just bored I can move to another game- which is never what I sought in the first place.

So far I really haven't found a MMO that is enjoyable enough without having friends there and the times I try new guilds they are either completely silent; only chat to find others to group; or are completely over the top with leet speak, memes, and going on and on about being drunk/high.

I can deal with the stagnancy of the genre but where can I find a community to replace a circle of friends that just don't have time for online gaming anymore?

Anyway, on topic, just play games with friends, like I do, F2P is a big no for me, dunno why, lets see if SW or GW2 can hold something.

Till those 2 come out, im not planning on playing anything
