PvP looks cool. Of course, I enjoy PvP in general. I like getting PvP gear and then abruptly using it o spank and punish nerds in PvE gear. So that's my stance on PvP screw all these haters who are bashing huttball though! Huttball looks fun. It's like Quidditch with killing people. I understand some nerds out there who aren't fond of sports might not like it, but when I get my huttball gear and whip the crap out of them then they will just quit the game in rage, and I will have a more enjoyable game. Of course, I am just a mere child of 20 who cannot grasp the concept of real PvP and complexed ways of thinking like the immortal huttball haters.

Define "pointless" and perhaps you will get a better response.

Only problem with this line of thinking is the PvP gear. It will only give you a 10% advantage over PvE. So you will still have to actually play and not roll your face on your keyboard to win.

I am curious about the tokens in the open world PvP zones with objectives vs the Warzone tokens. The interview said they are different but could be exchanged at a very bad rate. So it would take a lot of one to exchange for the other. That makes me think that there will be different gear sets for each type of PvP. I wonder if it will just be visually different or have different stats as well.

“How many people long for that "past, simpler, and better world," I wonder, without ever recognizing the truth that perhaps it was they who were simpler and better, and not the world about them?”

Well the game is launching with multiple instanced pvp scenarios, multiple world pvp objectives and quests, pvp specific gear sets, currencies, rankings, and even abilities. ToR was designed with pvp in place since the beginning unlike WoW which was tacked on as an afterthought post launch. Huge difference here.

My money is on the two different types of PVP offering gear (or having better/the best gear) for different slots.  Similar to what they seem to be doing with crafting and operation/raid gear (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqEzeOPP2-s#t=11m34s).

Yes and no, it's good thing when there is equal number of players intrested on doing same thing which happens as often as your bowel movement...

To be fair, when WoW opened world PvP, with open capture objectives, it was completely relevant, as a majority of the community spent their time in these zones for quests (if lost, see Sithilus and Eastern Plaguelands PvP opening during the invasion).  Just because world PvP has become mitigated in recent versions of WoW, doesn't mean that they didn't play an intrigal part of the story when they were introduced.  I think that that will be the deciding factor while playing SWTOR; the question "how does this affect me?"  If the PvP objectives are on an entirely separate planet (which I know of one such planet) and the outcome doesn't affect anyone, then it will fall by the wayside.  However, if there are PvP objectives on a planet that many people quest in, and there is a significant effect on the players within the region, then I suspect you will see many people participate (much like Hellfire Peninsula's towers when the BC first released).

BioWare has stated that on non-PvP servers, you will never have to follow a mission into a PvP area.  It would be cool though if by fulfilling certain objectives in a PvP area then it gave certain "buffs" to your faction.  For instance, control XX outposts for a buff to damage while questing for your faction, while the other faction suffers a debuff to damage.  I can see this kind of carrot and stick approach working really well on the Non-PvP servers.
