Yah, but apparently (after talking to the CMs), the only way to get that shirt is via PvP (everyone that played got one) or by, quote, 'going to our website and filling out a job application'
>_<<br /> And yes Tardcore, I was enraptured :P
@Sloppy, now that I've had a chance to rest, I realize that yes, the very first personal story bit for me as a Norn was talking to the zone scout and being told I should help someone in the area (fill a heart by doing events). After I filled a heart, the story that continued was instanced.
Let's see.... Character creation even now is pretty robust, though I wish Norn tattoos were selectable by body part rather than just a whole deal.
I think mu biggest gripe is that (due to my MMO history) it threw me off to be unable to jump and attack, especially after I had been tumbling around like a maniac.

Also, the thief is fucking awesome.
Cool, guess I will have to try and find some videos of the Norn area from PAX.
Glad you like the thief, that profession looks awesome!
Quick update before I crash for a quick night before the after parties start.
GW2 is as good as everyone says it is. Possibly better.
@Alot, no - in my experience with both a high level rogue and starter ranger, basic movement will not act as a 'soft dodge' - you need to double tap to avoid damage.
@Slaphappy - the personal story bits I encountered were all instances (though so far I've only experienced two portions of the Norn one, so take what I saw w/a grain of salt). The instancing is seamless/loading screenless. It's really tight.
@Hammer/Greatsword bros: I didn't get a chance to play a warrior today, but I will next time I get my paws on a demo.
@Oafupe: I didn't notice my Sylvari glowing at night, but my armor was white so it could've been obstructed; I'll double check on the next demo station
@Flawed: ANet was handing tshirts out like crazy today (I walked of the hall with 5, 3 of them GW2 related, lol), so I'd say chances are high you'll be able to get one.
Nap time as I said, but I'll try to get my early impressions posted before this evening
Thx for the update man.....wish i could be there......I'm plaining of going to the NYC comic con only if arenanet is going to be there so that I can finally try out the game for myslef
Just had a great conversation with Colin at the ANet afterparty.
No guild halls, but conquered keeps in WvWvW cam display guild colors and tabards. He got dragged away by another fan but said he'd come back to answer more questions later.
PvP is great, and reviving your teammates (or not) will drastically change the dynamic of the game, to the point where if you don't you WILL lose. That happened to me
I'm curious about if there are any collision physics between players and/or NPCs.
I can actually answer this question, at least!
There is in fact no collision physics between players and NPCs... or players and other players. The main stated reason is to reduce griefing potential.
There is collision physics between projectiles and players/NPCs though. So players/monsters can intercept hostile projectiles with their body.

And when u run/walk into big plant or long grass its move,,
~The only opinion that matters is your own.Everything else is just advice,~
Also, insofar as my experience goes (3 PvP matches, 5 PvE demo sessions) soloing is a bad idea. Grouping up is much more advantageous - dynamic events are difficult!
And since no one's posted this yet, brief overview on guilds from what was released during the panel today.
Guilds earn influence points with which you cam buy various banners and such that provide, for example, XP boosts to everyone in the area. Keeps in WvWvW can be claimed by guilds. You can belong to as many guilds as you wish, and they are tied to your account. You can choose (and change) which guild your individual character belongs to on the fly, but you can onlybe associated with one at a time. Absolutely no guild halls ( ).

yeah, I love this.
Also, OP, you aren't going to be getting rid of that itch until the game comes out. Mine hasn't gone away, and I played at last years PAX prime.
I used to TL;DR, but then I took a bullet point to the footnote.

Wow, that's unusual.
Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.

So if i understand correct, i can jump... but as soon as i am in the air, i can not make any attacking actions?
That will feel very strange indeed, but it will also kill most of the useless bunnyhopping.

I keep telling myself, 'at least you get to play it tomorrow' but it's not much of a consolation.
I will say, the biggest thing I took away from the afterparty was (cliché incoming!) how passionate everyone is. They love this game.
So far i love your reports, so many thanks for that...
Espescially the fact that dynamic events will not be easy, will make a lot of people happy. If the game is challenging, beating it is an awesome reward... Much greater then any gear could ever be.

Glad you're enjoying them, I hope the info is at least somewhat useful for you guys! I know I get tired of every preview from a gaming site being 100% stuff I'd heard before
And yes, the moment you jump you can use any skills and you're interrupted, so no bunny hopping! With how the energy bar is 'calibrated' right now, you can only dodge twice in a ~5ish second window, which makes it really strategic. I had a great 2v1 earlier as a thief where a perfect dodge of a ranger poison won me the skirmish. It's incredibly satisfying.

I defintly have to agree about this, ive been checking on sites compulsively for every little bit of info i can find in the hope of learning something new, and its getting pretty few and far between. I defintly apreciate your sharing with us your information and actually trying to get us new info. This thread has in no way been a letdown. I probably learned more from you in just this thread then i have learned anywhere else all month.
Every time i watch another interview with anet, it always seems to be the interviewer asking the same stock questions everyone else asks. Its gotten to the point that i actually feel a little bad for Colin, having to constantly answer the same questions over and over again. I mean you can tell that they really believe in there product, but i also sense a bit of fatigue on there end. It was really aparent during the gamescon Q and A sessions. I cant blame them given the time differences from washington to germany on top of conventions just being tiring in general, and the to do yet another convention the very next week. I just hope they dont kill themselves before release.
It actually kind of pisses me off that people have the nerve to talk about these people as just another unproven developer who deserves nothing but our skepticism, while there out there busting there asses to prove to us they arent just BSing us, above and beyond what most companies are willing to show in alpha state. These guys have given personal time to everyone willing to hear them out. Even lots of people who just do youtube videos who admit they are nobodies, and yet these guys treat them all like there gamespot or the like.
I was wondering if you could answer some questions. To what extent, if any, do they offer for item customization? And are loot drops boring like WoW, Rift, etc. or do they seem to be more random (like Diablo 2).
Not game-breaking for me, but since ANet is being so innovative with everything else, I'm wondering if their loot system is also innovative.
Also, how is the balance between classes? Do any seem under/over-powered. I'm not sure how much you observed when you weren't playing, but I think it's an important question.

Nice Star. Was one of them the shirt the devs all have been wearing to every event? If so that is an awesome shirt I will need to get my mitts on.
RIP Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan and Paul Gray.

See if there is some incarnation of Nicholas the Traveler and other kinds of gifts (birthday, zaishen chestish things, etc)
Do you want some cheese with that whine?
Turn animations for mobs. Will they have them or will the mobs turn instantly to face their targets with no turn animations.
Not a terribly huge deal with me but I know it is on quite a few minds.

The 3 racial cities available are absolutely breathtaking, the Black Citadel especially
I haven't played it in 25 minutes and I'm already itching to get my hands on it again >_<
lol! I'm addicted and I haven't even played it yet ^_^ It looks super fun, even from just watching the videos.
