Dragon Nest: Another Winntech Rant

If there is one thing I find myself detesting more than many other game aspects is forcing a particular sex for a particular class. In Dragon Nest, you will find this evident from the very beginning. The classes

• 
  Cleric: Male
• 
  Warrior: Male
• 
  Sorceress: Female
• 
  Archer: Female

Now, I am not saying Nexon and Eyedentity are sexist. Well, ok, yes I am. I deem any game that sticks a male and female in a particular class (basic class) to be slightly sexist. There, I said it. Now, there are caveots, for instance, a Valkire, yes, that is a traditional female class as well as the Amazon. But why should only males be warriors and clerics? Why should females only be relegated to the archer and sorceress class? Where are the male archers and the female warriors? Games like this only tick me off. I refuse to even give the game a chance. I uninstalled the game after I got to the character creation. Highly disappointing since I had been looking at the game for quite some time now. I was going to roll a male archer. I refuse to play games that are so narrow sighted and class lock limited. To me, in this day and time, such limitations are asinine for any developer to hide behind and actually have the audacity to call his or her game playable.

Once again, Nexon has failed me. Eyedentity, I expected more from you.

Very well said(written) there! I can completely understand your feelings on this topic as it is an odd choice by the dev. That being said, you are missing out on a great game. Good luck to you wherever you land!

yeah great little mmo but wow did you see all the gold sellers? Every channel its just awful and that kills it for me. Its when you come back day, days letter and the same toons are gold selling.. somethings up..

As a fan of DFO, I was very excited to play Dragon Nest.  I started the beta a few weeks ago and I was just like you, I was actually ready to select a Male Archer, only to find that I didn't get that as an option.  I ended up rolling and Archer and even though I'm a female character, the gameplay and all around feeling of the game is pretty awesome.  Hopefully in the next big patch or in the near future, they will open up opposite sex option for all the classes.  This is a let down for sure, all classes should always have a male and female option, unless race specific and only has male or female as an option...which in that case is fine.

Gold sellers are what killed it for me when I played DFO and Aion.  You can't even report gold spammers in DN, which is BullShift.
