The PvP is extremely fun, and takes a lot of team coordination to win.  The types are as follows...

Gladiators Arena - Randomly chosen teams of 4 players, that play against 4 other players.

Tombs - teams of eight players (not randomly chosen) that are grouped together.  Many different maps and gametypes in Tombs.  From a CTF, to King of the Hill, to an 8v8v8v8v8v8.  Lots of fun and very challenging.  The point of Tombs is to attempt to make it to the Hall of Heroes.

Guild vs. Guild - Two guild teams pitted against each other.  Each guild has a stronghold, archers, swordsmen, Mages (arcanists), and of course the eight players your guild has taken into battle.  The poitn of the game is to kill the enemy Guild Lord (an NPC), by using the Guild Thief to pick the lock on the enemies stronghold.  When either teams Guild Lord has been killed, the game ends.  In the middle area between the two strongholds is a tower, where your teams flag can be placed, to gain a morale boost.  The morale boost can give you up to a 10% increase in Health and Mana.  Lastly, on the outside of each stronghold is a trebuchet, which launches an explosive into random parts of the enemy fortress.  Has a nice blast radius, but be careful that your team isn't in there, or you might 'accidently' kill them too.  :)

The PvP is tons of fun, and I'd recommend trying it out in the February beta, you'll probably have a blast.  Also there's a bit more to each gametype, but thats the jist of each.  Hope this helped!

PvP can be fast and furious, or long and involved. Arena matches may be over in 2 or 3 minutes sometimes, and be pure action from start to finish. Guild vs Guild matches, if both teams are really good, can last over an hour.

This is the only PvP system that I am really looking forward to.  A lot of other PK-style games are full of ganking.  I created a PK player on a PK server, and before I had logged in the first time, I was dead.  In the next 2 minutes I died about 10 times.  I logged off, and any other combat system that was based that way, I have never played.

This system look absolutely incredible.  It's the first real game I've seen that promotes skill and talent rather than how high of a level you are, or if you have an AL 500 suit of armor, and I only have AL 200.  Everyone is on the same playing field in almost all aspects.  I won't have 5000 hit points as a veteran player, and you have only 100 with a n00b toon.
