Nowadays it seems that there is nothing happening in the MMO-Market. Everyone is waiting for real good games to come out and it seems that it lasts forever!
Come on companies, bring the new games out!
Age of Empires
DCUO
Eden Eternal
Perpetuum
Vindictus
World of Cars
Uncharted Waters Online
Earthrise
Rift
World of Tanks
Gods and Heroes
Black Prophecy
CrimeCraft
APB
Asda2
"Real good" is extremely subjective, but as far as companies bringing the new games out, the above is a partial list of just some of the releases in the past year alone, which doesn't include the MMOFPS stuff like Genesis AD, MicroVolts, etc.
Actually, its not that subjective and none of the titles above can be considered "real good" MMORPG's.
We've been in the MMORPG Dark Ages since Nov 2004 and not sure there's a lot of light on the horizon.
Sorry sir it is very much subjective. Please don't try to dictate other peoples likes and dislikes. I consider Perpetum and Rift to be a really good MMO's are you going to tell me i am wrong because my opinion differ from yours?
Hey guys just be honest, the new games right now are so not epic it is not even funny!
For example:
The big new hope this year: RIFT...
I played it for two weeks and then put it away, because there was no typical addictive feeling I had with games like EQ,EQ2,WoW,UO,DaoC,PS,Vanguard,SWG... Why? pretty easy. Look at Rift. They bring out games where you have 1 (one, eine,un,uno!!!) starter zone, reaching from lvl 1-20. What is that? back in 99 there were starter zones like Qeynos, Freeport, Kelethin, Halas, Butcher all in one Game. Games felt huge! When you startet in Qeynos and someone talked about Kelethin the game world literally felt just massive.
Nowadays you get one zone where everyone and their mothers rush for the next linear zone. Everything looks purple and purple and purple.... And if you start a new character your see purple and purple and purple.... zzzZZZZzzz... What iswrong with the DEVS? are they lazy??
When it comes down to good, quality, long lasting MMORPG's that have been holding a large number of players over a long period of time apparently there can be only one.
But I'd sure like to see some more theme park MMORPG's that incorporated some of the game mechanics employed by earlier titles such as AC, DAOC, Lineage 1/2 etc.
Why do we need more like them? Were those good games? You said in the first half of this post (and the sentence directly above) that they weren't.
Speaking hyperbolically so often can make your logic a little twisty.
Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.
