Phase one of allowinfg them complete access to all your personal details via Facebook simply for a chance to be in beta, at some point, maybe.

Wait... so I need to make a facebook account to register for beta?

    Wow, that's so lame.

As for the fake facebook account.... at some point you may have to sign some legal documents. "Uhh... actually I lied about my name. My real name is...."

I chose Templars and sadly I feel like we will be the most populated faction in this game (or the Illuminati). The Dragon just aren't interesting really and will utlimately be the underdogs is my guess.

Turns out I do need a facebook account to participate in this "secret war".

And for a sec I was thinking funcom wouldn't try to pull this shit... but alas, my hopes were misplaced

Last thing I need is all my friends, family, and coworkers to be auto-spammed by this game... in the end they'd all think I've gone insane.

    I chose the Illuminati.

I chose the illuminati. The description in their video reminded me of season 4 and 5 of Supernatural. I love Supernatural. I have a feeling this game is going to be a gem.

There's only one logical choice I could choose :3 I chose it such a long time ago too.

    # A GRIM, ODD, ARCANE SKY
    # ANY GOD, I MARK SACRED
    # A MASKED CRY ADORING
    # A DREAMY, SICK DRAGON

It's a scam to get all your personal information under the disguise of beta access, nothing more.

And what do you think Funcom plan to do with your personal information?

Why do they need it in the first place? There is no reaon they need full access to your profile including everything your friends share with you.

Information like that is worth a lot of money, especially if its from one target marketing group: MMO Gamers in this case.

Not saying they will sell it, but there is NO REAASON to request that kind of information in the first place.

They not only linking it, they want FULL access to all your personal information stored on facebook, incl. what your friends share with you. It's ridiculous and suspicious.

They don't need your personal information, they only need your FB account. you can very well make fake account for it. And like you said Funcom won't sell your personal information so why worry so much? they have nothing to gain by selling your personal information.

Advertisement companies pay premium for certain demographics, especially if they contain address, phone numbers, birthday etc. Who knows, this is a potential cash cow, selling this information can easy make them a few million.

I don't worry because i wont give them my information, but not everyone is as smart as you or me. they will just click Yes on just about any pop up that looks like a confirmation message. We have been trained to do so by windows for decades.

As far as I'm concerned FB is just for catching up with old friends and keeping in touch with those out of my area and country, I don't allow any aps access to my info, won't start with it now. I'm sure there will be plenty who are quite happy to share theirs and their friends info (did you ask your friends?) but me, no thanks. Best of luck to those who participate.

If you were watching this for a long time you should already know that this was always going to happen, it's in the faq's. They're looking to make more than your run of the mill mmo, they intend for arg's to be an integrated part of the story, I would suggest creating a fake account for email, fb and twitter as they will all be used at various stages of the game, it's an integrated experience and I very much doubt they give a rats arse if you use your real or fake account.

To bring this back on topic, I think you should be a templar :D

but honestly, anyone who would put their phone number and address on fb would've got there info sold to other companies already by fb or hackers, funcom wont be the first company to ask your information. The problem isn't funcom linking this process to fb, but why people even put those information on fb in the first place. Sure funcom probably gets paid by fb for using their network as promotion, getting more people on it, but thats legal, if you hate fb for certain reasons, well too bad, but don't frame how they will sell your information, because it is the people who shouldn't even put those information up in the first place.

All you guys complaining about the use of FB need to relax and just accept it. It's been utilised to make the process smoother and easier for your own benefit. It presents no danger. In fact it will be fun.
