Winntech Rant: I am not asking for a miracle people, just a good game that isn't broken

So, now that I have tried several other games, some of which are gender locked (previous rant), I have found several that have made me angry (and one is not even a game).

Programmers and Designers, listen closely. If you create the worlds most "Epic" and "Amazing" game and the first step in launching said game is to get it working on my computer, guess what? You have entered the "S**t List". I am a patient person, I will dig in a game's errors and decode BSOD dumps with a smile on my face. But if you catch me on the wrong day, well, I may yell at you and throw a middle finger as I uninstall the program.

It should not be that difficult to make a game run and run well. Defensive programming should eliminate user error and cutting back on overly aggresive programming techniques and styles can prevent system errors. What else could be more enjoyable than starting a game to a black screen with music? Then I have to change the graphics in the registry. That itself is enough to bump a game into the crap barrel. Lets start this rant with the game that pushed me to this limit, Age of Conan.

AoC, to some, this game is a wonder to play. I played it before and it was a button masher. I said it before in a post as to why I left and I say it again, its a button masher. Fan boys cry when I say that but that is not the issue I have with the game, no, not at all. I attempted to login and could not. Mind you, this is after downloading and updating the game (an all night affair). Then I had the delight of waiting ALL day at work awaiting to play the new free content. Yeah, could not even login. I spent three days and two accounts trying. This was the normal for me, I dig, I find, I fix. After three days and multiple emails to support, I did something that usually is the end of a game permanantly on my system. I got angry. How is an issue reported by so many people and have so many forum hits over multiple months and still nothing is done to correct said issue? In my eyes, that is lazy, ridiculous and asinine. The game was uninstalled and they allowed themselves to lose yet another customer.

So, next I tried Dragon Nest. If you read my last rant, the game is gender locked and I uninstalled at character select. I despise gender lock without lore.

My journey continued in order to find a descent game to play. I tried Prius Online. The game is gender locked as well, but it is not as major as Dragon Nest, albeit, it tweaked the nerve in my forehead. So again, I downloaded another "Amazing" game and waited again a day at work. I come home and try to play, but no, the game freezes to a black screen. Ok, in their defense, it is Monday, I have little patience for crap on a Monday. Knowing this, I stay calm and launch Firefox and begin check the forums. Guess what, you cannot even View the forums unless you login. So now I go to login the forums and it says my password is incorrect. So I reset the password and it says my username is too. No biggie, I recall my Username and reset my password. I go to login the forum and it says my password is incorrect. I give it a few minutes (about ten) for propagation and try again, same thing. Bad password. In my rage I uninstall the program and close the browser tab. Thank you gPotato, I really did need that additional fire to add to my already burning rage.

Now that its gone and my system is clean from its infection, I go to Google Music to set up my music. Google...why Google would join the masses and add more coal to the fire, I have no clue. But Google tells me I have too many accounts assigned. After digging a bit I find that I have one. I try their fixes and still nothing. I didn't uninstall Google Music, I know Google, of all the above, will fix the error. I will be pissed at them, that is a given (well for now at least).

I reiterate to Programmers and Developers, make sure your program and code is clean. If an error is reported, dedicate a team to fix it and LET THE PEOPLE KNOW it is being fixed. If you don't, they will leave. If they are like myself, they will angrily storm over to a local forum and spread the news about how absolutely infuriated you have made them. Fix your game or application, make sure it friken works OR end up a target on an angry black man's rant.
