The Secret World: Phase 1 of The Secret War Now Live

After a bit of a snafu over the weekend, Funcom has announced that the first phase of the beta sign ups and player site interactivity for The Secret War is now live on The Secret World's site. Players can head to the official site and begin the process for opting into the beta.

    With this game I don't want to spoil all of the "out-of-game" research, so I wasn't going to beta anyway.

    Gaming since Avalon Hill was making board games.

    You also must allow them to access all your details stored on Facebook before you're allowed to sign up. I've seen people say it doesn't matter as you can make fake accounts but how many people will this get to give over all details, my guess is many.

    I have a Facebook account to keep track of what my friends are doing.

    Why would you store any important details of yourself on Facebook? You don't have to use your real name or anything else, you can use a throw away email address, etc. I can register for Facebook as my cat. If you really want to participate in the Secret War, but don't want personal stuff shared, there are ways to get around it.

    I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

    I just made a "Dummy" FB account to sign up. They didn't get CRAP from me, and I was able to sign up for beta :)! Aren't I a smarty :D?

    Bit of an overreaction to the Facebook connectivity, no? I mean, so they gain access to your name, gender, location and whatever other information YOU have willingly given to Facebook... big deal. It's not like they are accessing you bank account information (yet, if you go with the live game) or DNA.

    Yeah i don't know what is the big deal here. What the hell is Funcom going to do with our facebook accounts? it is Funcom not some terrorist organisation.

    every detail of my life is important (edit). I find it strange that so many put so much more value on their bank account then their mom, or family for that matter.

     

    lets see, knowing where i went to school, my interests, my race, my family, my bio metrics, you know when I vent, I believe I am even putting a piece of my soul on there. And its not just facebook.  I believe all this is more valuable than my actual bank account, which I ususally only have people I love on mine

    I guess a lot of these guys don't know it's a bad idea to put all your personal info on any online social site. I wonder if they used their real info to register on these forums?

    I just created a Dummy FaceBook, has NONE of my real information.  You don't NEED to give every single detail to Funcom.

    I have a tendancy to over react to this stuff, because of all the bullshit in the world. The truth is, everything really significant about me concerning our society, is already on line anyways. This and that dont do very well for my exagerated trust issues lol

    I wish you didnt need FB for this game ;P.  I was so excited.  From the way I understand it (correct me if Im wrong), you will need FB when this goes live to figure out some of the puzzles in game.

    Considering this game is built to integrate with ARG, and fb is the largest social networking site. This was almost expected.
