Dragon Nest or Vindictus?

Darkfalz89Darkfalz89 Member UncommonPosts: 581

Just been playing this title a lot more recently and have been liking the differences it has between Vindictus. Sure the graphics/animations and overall of Vindictus dwarfs Dragon Nest but Im liking the gameplay and animations a little more in Dragon Nest. And from what ive seen in trailers and playing is that Dragon Nest is a little more story driven. The other things i noticed that in vindictus theres a lack of actual animations since melees mostly just hack and slash where in Dragon Nest i notice more skills and animations + im loving the class tree customizations. Also curious as to since Dragon Nest is still in Beta, if the consider keeping characters after the beta. I dont remember what Korean games do in these phases since its been a while since i played on pre release.

Just wanted some thoughts from players who played a decent amount in both games.

I would say both, but if I had to say one of them Dragon Nest

Dragon Nest has a great overall combat system, great music, level design, animation , crafting and leveling system. Vindictus does as well and does a great job using the Valve Source Engine, but there's a fighting curve you have to get the hang of, which could either be a turn off or you may enjoy it. You will have a series of holds with the keyboard on some of your attacks, I actually kind of like this, but not everyone will except it...the only way you can judge this is to try it yourself. Questing in both games are great, in Vindictus, when you talk to a NPC, you get a lot more story from them and it's pretty great, in Dragon Nest it's pretty simple and sometimes the NPC use voice dialog which brings a bit of life into the conversation.

Dragon Nest and Vindictus what I am turned off by is gender restrictions, I'm sure they can add more genders for each class in the future, but it's just not a great start for any RPG.  When I started up Dragon Nest, I wanted to be a male archer, nope I have to be a female archer instead.

Both games are not fully MMO's they are CORPG ( competitive online role playing game), all the levels you fight in and towns you visit are all in an instance, very similar to Guild Wars. This is no way means there not worth playing, they just have a different play feel to them.

Either game you try I'm sure you will have a great experience.

P.S. If you do decide to play Dragon Nest, when you hit lvl 15 with your class and have the option to expand that class, the game gets 200x more awesome.

    Wildstar (2013) & Elder Scroll Online (2013)

    Playing: Diablo 3, WOW, Far Cry 3 & X-Com.

Enjoyed: WOW 5 1/2 yrs, LOTRO 3yrs, GW 1/2yr, DFO 1yr, EVE Online 3yrs, and Huxley (Beta).

Failed to impress: GW2 3months, Tera Online 6 months (best combat system in any MMO I've played) STO 1/4yr, Aion 1/2yr, AoC 1yr, CO, Fallen Earth, DDO, EQ2 1/2yr, WAR 1/2yr, Lineage 2 and FF XI 1/2yr, FF XIV.

Dragon's nest has a better combat system and PvP.  It's also a little more relaxed (aka easy)

Vindictus has better presentation elements and PvE.

I personally find Dragon's Nest to be more fun to play.  The PvE is pretty simple.., even on the highest difficulties... but  remains intense in groups.  The PvP is just plain fun, I think its the best PvP combat system in "MMOs" (although DN falls a bit short of what might be described as a MMO) .  However, suffering through the anime kiddie graphics, gender locks, and lack of customization options can be abit irritating.

Playing the game and almost 15 i agree with everything you said, and even the complaints you had near the end are just the generic problems of a f2p, especially a diablo style dungeon crawler. I dont mind vindictus but the questing and dialog just drove me bonkers. All these features i really didnt care for.

I think both of 'em were good game and worth to try. PvP and PvE looks cool and more realistic (physics-based) attacks/combo compared to other MMOs out there. If you're a fond of cute and chibi characters then play Dragon Nest. Well, if you're seeking hunk guys and pretty hot ladies, then Vindictus is the right one for you. image
