Seems a long time MMORPG poster is starting to learn what we have said all along.

2 Mortal online has no real group activities
Mortal online biggest downfall is that it has no content for people to just go and have fun.
There is only really 3 things we can do. Kill, grind and riser dungeon. The AI is horrible as hell, the only real activity to do is to kill other players randomly.
The riser dungeon is ok, but its not that "amazing" it a place with creatures in it like any other place with one strong mob. the strong mob is what makes it fun.
EVERYTHING in mortal online I can kill by myself.
There is no arena i can go 2, with a group of guild mates and friends and stake gold and try to win battles and with these battles we can the stuff being staked.
I would like something where you can risk your stuff in battles against other people and they can risk stuff also and the winner take all.
There is just nothing fun to do....to break away from the grind. there no "recreational ingame activities"

That's what I've been saying and predicting since very beta. Funny to see such a post from one of most active MO defenders here on forums (ange).
Is it just me, or do you post one of these threads every single day? Your hate for a video game is worrying.
Hate or warning people you take your pick.

please let's refrain from the personal attacks.
Another thread about MO with players stating what I've been saying for long : MO is boring as fuck, there is nothing to do in this game.
http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/66535-out-boredom.html
Well, it's actually convenient that it doesn't have any real group activities since only about 20 people play it.
They are probably doing something wrong, I guess it's just not their kind of game.
What.s a sandbox with no sand? No Fun!

I generally try my best to avoid giving answers where a true dev's answer would be better, but I feel safe enough to comment on this, especially because it seems like a popular complaint lately. Please note though that I am not a paid employee, my comments on this are not Star Vault's, and I am only going by what I have heard through Developer posts and IRC/FAQ answers. This is not an official SV comment, and if I say anything incorrectly that does not match SV's actual plans, please correct me.
With the current AI, fights are not that interesting. The devs have to rebuild the AI (damn that Atlas!) so that they can have more interesting fights. If they created hard fights right now with interesting loot, people would complain that it's a "grind" and "boring tank and spank" and "numbers are all that matters". Rather than spending time creating group-sized fights with the current AI and spending developer time on a temporary "placeholder fix", they are working on making a very good AI system that will allow group-sized encounters that are fun, with interesting loot, where strategy and skill (at least in some cases) may have more weight over simple numbers.
They have said before that they want to be done wasting time on temporary and/or placeholder features and fixes. They could spend their time creating tank and spank fights that people will still complain about, or they could better spend that same time creating fights that people will love.
To your comment about the Arena, arena events are usually supported by the GM team with transportation and security. If one is not supported for whatever reason, nothing is stopping the host from hiring their own security through mercenaries, friends, or their own guild. I think you only have to ask a GM to have the arena opened for a battle or tournament.
Nothing is stopping you from having a scheduled group battle or 1v1 duel with items up for stake. This game is full loot, to put an item "up for stake" to the winner, all you have to do is have it in your inventory. If that is not good enough or you are worried that the opposing side might try to pull something sneaky (like having friends hidden nearby), get a neutral middle man, or hire a neutral middle man, to hold the items from both sides that are up for grabs to the winner in a safe location until the winner is decided.
This is not a themepark, there will not be safe systems for everything. Due to very little restrictions on what players can do, there is nothing stopping you from doing the things you mentioned. Yes, the game will get better as more features are implemented and current features are extended (such as the task system), but a large part of the fun in a sandbox rests in the player's hands.

Yes, don't forget about the Greater Kimuru.

If they had added health to the spider queen, it simply would have become a completely ignored spawn and instead be replaced by some other "best gold per hour mob". What would that have done? And now we are back to what I said above, about the new AI they are working on. Those who would have tried to kill it simply would have complained about it being a long, drawn-out tank-and-spank fight, with boring loot, and they would completely put the spider queen out of their minds while they switch to a different spawn.
They changed all of the spawn timers to better fit their original plans. The spider queen was never supposed to be timed perfectly to respawn every certain amount of time so players constantly know when they need to go there to kill it. That sounds far too much like WoW for us hardcore players, eh?

So its "Epics fault" and youre playing it wrong? Wasn't the "AI" finished?
I win!!! LOL@U
You knew they were going to blame EPIC that is the goto...
Scarecrow's response to Talwin.
Firstly, most of us won't be waiting forever for enjoyable content. With no update on the AI progress, and considering how much a disappointment previous hype has been, I can only question that I, or others will "love the AI".
Even though you say that SV has no intention of focusing on place-holders, that is not the core issue at hand here. The issue is that people have complained about the actual content and the priorities of SV, for instance look at Dawn, which was considered a major let-down by a large portion of the community.
For instance, basic mechanics have been left-behind for fluff and other silly implementations that the player-base have often deemed superfluous, or simply strange. For instance, territory control, which is one of my personal concerns, but there are also several other basic implementations that other players also consider vital, that still have not been added.
I think that if you want the player-base to be patient, we should at least have the tools to forge our own content, such as economy tools, housing tools, a couple more crafting tools, incentives for player settlements, incentives for territory control and ofc an actual territory control system etc.
The Kimuru was semi-entertaining at first, but it's very repetitive and due to the simplicity of it (pressing R on a catapult for 30 mins) I laugh at the notion of it qualifying as end-game or group content.
About organization of events. The GM team should step this up IMO, and organize things that players show interest in. You can't expect players to organize everything in such a low population game, especially when you lack a lot of sandbox tools, and with difficulties of organizing under such conditions as a player.

I consider this comment borderline comedy. Quite frankly, if you investigate how heavily the safe-systems in MO influence the game, you wouldn't be so quick to distance MO from other games with more "obvious" restrictions and safe-zones.
I see the big problem here that the sandbox argument is employed, when you want to justify a lack of content, but quite frankly a lot of players are disappointed by our limited influence on the world, and a lot of mechanics that seem to limit the sandbox concept. For instance, guilds and alliance have very few to shape the game or areas they control, and solo players generally have a even harder time, due to the problems with the economy and the low population meaning access to crafters and such is difficult, leading to a lot of solo-grinding, which is more like playing a single-player game, or an instanced MMORPG.
At this point you can't even compare MO to other games like EVE/DF and similar games in the regard of safe-zones and it's effects. In MO the economy is majorly based on NPC trades, which now with the recent inflation has completely screwed the economy over, while PVP is more pointless than instanced battlegrounds or other sort of team-deathmatch or death-match set-ups that are common in such games. The people who wanted this dangerous open-world concept have mostly left, due to MO's restrictions, the few that are left are becoming awfully bored with the lack of military action, especially due to the blatant lack of territory control. Which I assume will either lead to MO becoming more care-bear, as that's what the target population will be if they head in that direction. Or, they will cater to the contrary, and perhaps partially revive that part of the population while perhaps scaring off some of the people looking for a more casual game.

Yes, dont forget the Kimuru! Because one boss makes or breaks the whole game.. lol.
Prince follows up his OP. Seems someone is starting to see the light. UO back in the 90's had dueling arenas. It was very easy to get tournys going. Also UO had seers it was their full time job to do events for players or help players do events. What I am saying is it is very doable by a team that knows what they are doing.

I agree to disagree about the arena. even a place where you walk in and it flags you grey would be good enough.
The brawling arena in fab, would be cool if it flagged you grey when you entered it.
Something along those lines, I don't want to spend hours trying to organize something.
I want something where I say to guild mates "hey lets go to the brawling area" and fight there or put up a show.
Just something like that. about the rest of the comments. The reason I am complaining is because the communication in between these "updates" is nearly non existant, we have no idea when the patch is coming, we have no idea how the are progressing and we have not seen any real previews of their work.
We don't really know what to expect, we can't get hyped up or just wait, because we don't know what is coming.
Sometimes SV say something and its not what you expected and the backlash is worse in the long run.
thats my opinion anyway and I started this thread because this issue with the lack of content is getting at me, I reached a boiling point in my frustration with the game.

Guild Recreation in 1.52.03.12
In this patch as part of the guild repair process, the guild system will be wiped with all guilds needed to be setup again. This can be done by petitioning a GM who will then recreate the guild however the leaders will need to reinvite their guild members.
Note this process can only be completed by a GM and not a Counselor and done only to those who currently own a Guild Stone., Also the house owner.
Thank you all for your cooperation during this necessary process.

I think it's fairly pointless to talk about group activities when you need to petition a GM to recreate/create your guild.
There doesn't seem to be a single fanboy left.
More thoughts on the state of MO from the longtime MMORPG.com poster.

we bored as fuck, that's the simple thing.....there just nothing to do.....there nothing that makes me want to log in anymore... crafting gets old after a while, pvp is pointless, there no "hotspots" like a arena to go 2, which you KNOW there will be PVPERS there.
there no diversity in the game concerning the mobs, there no sand to build with, keeps are more useless then houses, and whats the point of building more and more houses because they still pretty much useless, you can't decorate them or put things in them.... they are just static objects in the world. Houses don't even have windows or anyway to make your house look different from another i can't display my stuff to people. I can't do anything with it only a chest and crafting tables.....there are a lack of cool mobs to fight.
there is a lack of incentive to go to war.....and then the process of going to war is easily exploitable, just war dec 5 guilds, and no one can declare war on you. there no upkeep for declaring war, its just senseless killing in town...territory control is at its most primitive form, the only benefit or control you get, is taxation. Logistics is a pain in the arse, you need like 20 people to move boulders.I don't see why we can't just have a wagon, put stuff on it, connect to a couple horses, have a few warriors protecting it etc.

I don't understand ange aka princereaper.. on one hand he says that the game is boring and pointless, but on other hand he defends that it is "niche" and entertaining, you just need to make your own content or else the game is not for you.. elaborate, please?
