great mmo, dare i say 1 of the best out there right now. but from my experiance it has to be 1 of the best for casual gamers. they have made so many improvments with in the last year or so. but i will say it can start getting tidius after u hit the level cap but really u just would have to try it to decide if u like it or not. All your gonna get on here is peoples opinions bassed on thair personel exp. 1 rule i think always stands though is that it is always more fun to play an mmo with real life friends that say maybe u see regurly like at work or school. It always enhanced my playing usually making me want to play more. also i should add, u wanted to know some stuff about it..... lvl cap is 80 till next expansion drops then its going to 85, they recently added an auto-group function making it easy to get in groups made up of diffrent classes to complete dungons to help u complete quests that u may pick up for them, scalling as u lvl up. u can still play completey solo and still lvl pretty swiftly. mount at 20 i think, flying mount at 60. raids can be 10 or 25 man with 25 man yielding better drops. 1 draw back u kinda have to pick your race based on the class u wanna play but those options will also be in creased with the expansion.
If I was going to play something I have never played before, I would play a newer game imo. I would check out the swtor , gw2, tsw and such....Maybe even Rift, even though I played and it wasn't for me.
I have never been big into playing a game that has been out for a long time, it seems like their is so much to catch up on, I prefer to start near the beginning, thats why I say to check out the games that are 'soon' to be released or having not been released long.
Nothing against WoW, games just seem to get 'bloated', and they make a lot of previous content trivial if someone is joining a game with a lot of expansions out already. I ran into the same problem with old EQ, when people would try to start, once it had already released 4+ expansions.
I think you feel more part of a game, when you are there sooner imo.
If you have never played the actual game, it is definitely worth it. I would be playing it right now If I weren't so burnt out after playing since release. The PvE is good, if you're into it. I don't know of any other games with as big of a PvP population, though it's really just BGs and Arenas. If you haven't played much, it should be able to hold you till the new game come out.
sure, you should try it. everyone eventually does. WoW is like Walmart. everyone hates it, but everyone goes there eventually.
however, here is the context of my response, however you prefer to read it. keep in mind i played wow for about 6 years and have enjoyed the game in the past. just can't go back as i get nauseous just thinking about, just got burned out. wow has some excellent things going for it. changing scenery ingame for your character as you complete quests being one of the best innovations for an mmo i have seen in years.

Sure its dying. But then we all are...and everything else is "dying" from the day it was born...
I think you should instead write things like "is the amount of players getting fewer?"...but still....in a game with millions and millions of players if there is like a million less...would you notice it??
I think it is kind of strange observation to call a game that still has millions of players "dying".
Anyway...enough about that...to get to the point I personally never like WoW. Only played it for like 10+5 days in total. An hour a day or something...got to level 10 or something...
The thing is...it just looked childish to me...and felt more like a single player grindfest...instead of the in deepth roleplay and co-op that i gotten in Neverwinter Nights 1..so I'd recomend that one instead.
The most popular thing in the MMO community at the moment is WoW-bashing. It seems that you aren't cool unless you slag it off.
If you have never played the game properly, I would say go for it. It has a lot of polish, is easy to play and can be quite fun. Try to ignore chat though, as the community isn't always the greatest. That being said, if you don't mind at least staying in character, rroll on an RP server, they seem to be a little nicer, or at least they were when I played.
It does lead you very much by the hand though, it is the epitome of theme-park games, but some (lots) of people enjoy that. The trial is free too - so there is no reason to at least give it a try.

Nap I'd wait wow is in decline due to bait and switch end game. I would wait for Swtor, GW2 etc or play lotro isengard instead. At this stage wow is definately not worth a return until they innovate instead of copy.
Kind of hard to copy when it's everyone else copying them, isn't it?
You really said that!
WoW copied everything, not one shred of it is original.
It's pretty entertaining until you hit 85 and start maxing out your skills and gear. I just got 1 character to 85 and cancelled. I put in the reason for canceling, "Ding I hit level 85 and mission accomplished!"

It's so easy nowadays that I wouldn't recommend it to you.
The early game was interesting when it was hard. But even the expansions are two easy and repetitive.

I'm a little bored of this game for this phase, but when the next patch comes, i'm sure i'll come back again at the first time.
all i have is the respect to this great game, you' ll never know how this game changes my life and my view to MMO-RPG.

Some folks can stick to their guns....
@ the OP: No harm in trying something, but asking if it's "worth playing" is subjective, only you can answer that.
Not worth it. The community is the worst, level is fun up until a certain point, then all you can do is grind for gear.
