It was suggested that I give this list its own thread for discussion of all the items that AV still has not delivered to its players over the months and years.
I was sucked into the 6month subscription plans and usually each time my 6month was due to renew AV would tell us the next patch or expansion was coming "soon"... most times this never actually happened soon.
The population has been bleeding ever since they decided to open up the NA server.
Their is still no boxed release of the game... It is still not up on amazon and steam as the devs said it was going to be "soon" back on sept 1st 2010
I compiled this list from all of the dev posts over the years and later own the blog update posts. Needless to say I got more and more upset as I read each months update with more and more things that were promised and never became part of the game.
Here is a list of broken promises 1.0
It may be missing a few items but this is about 90% of the stuff that we were sold into beleiving were being added to the game starting back from Jan 2010.

We have some major improvements for trade skills underway which target their depth and add a lot more items to the game
We’re improving monster drops and especially rare drops.
We’re planning a huge itemization boost almost doubling the amount of items in the game. This will mean more ingredients, more recipes for crafting, and this should help diversify the economy significantly.
We’re also planning on Clan Vendors.
We’re planning on player/clan vendors in capitals and possibly in clan cities. You need to compete to secure a vendor spot in a capital, or you need to earn one.
Yes we are currently testing our system for armor and clothing dyes in conjunction with the sweeping changes in 2010. The colors are craftable and not all colors are created equal.
Is there any plan at all for more types of craftable armor or weapons anytime in the future?Yes, tons
Starting with the dynamic lore system where players can seriously impact the game’s lore and events happening in the game, it’s in our future plans to allow our players to increasingly affect the world.
Will the sliding corpse bug ever be fixed? Yes and it won’t just be fixed but it’ll be replaced with something very cool.
We’re currently working on introducing dynamic PvP opportunities to the game.
Demigods are a part of a bigger design a part of which is the Dynamic Lore System. The Demigods will be introduced when it’s time for them to be introduced.
Anti -aliasing will be implemented.
We’re speaking with several partners concerning a N. America box release but we can’t give an ETA on that yet.
Salvaging skill will be added and currently being worked on.
Plans to implement a tiered clan bank access system.
planning on diversifying the different melee skills by adding unique attacks/moves or specializations for each weapon type
Feb 22 2010 Advanced leather armor(picture shown) -All races are getting upgrades to new armor.
April 21 2010 Besides the existing mounts, the game will see a wide array of mounts being added.
April 22 2010 A major feature on the way are the Prestige Classes
April 29 2010 Player Model updates, almost all the races have been finalized.
April 29 2010 Attribute consumables, skill books and scrolls should be more common: Yes they should be and they will be on low level mobs.
Introduce new potions / consumables that affect skill/spell/stats for a given time span: These are the temporary boosts we’re talking about in the character progression discussion post.
Quests to increase specific skills/stats: We’re working on this.
Increase the skill/stat level that attributes consumables raise to: We’re looking at adding new types of attribute consumables along these lines.
Decrease the number of “necessary” spells/skills or simply make them more readily available and faster to skill up: We’re doing many small things to this end but we feel that Prestige classes will address this in the best possible way.
Heal mount shouldn’t be affected by encumbrance: We’re going to address this like we did with the transfer spells.
Dungeons need work: We’re doing a complete revamp of the dungeon system. A lot of work is going into this and we think that it will make dungeons a lot more meaningful.
May 18th -2010 We know you are also wondering about character animations: in this case we can tell you that they will get a complete overhaul and Aventurine is currently working on setting up a motion capture studio.
July 02 2010 - Enviromental sounds will be patched in as soon as possible.
Sept 1 2010 - The release of boxed versions of the game across EU and NA. , It will be on Amazon and Steam soon, Adding a type of cloak or tabard for clans.

Prestige classes are the largest feature ever added to Darkfall and will definitely change the face of the game. The final design for them is complete. From here we go to the technical design, implementation, testing, evaluation, more testing etc. Sounds like this will take forever but it won’t.
Getting a Darkfall box out is underway and Darkfall is available now through most digital download channels and we’re in talks to get it on more of them

making city walls more meaningful is a big priority for us. We are working on many things that when combined will seriously improve the defenses of a city, and one of them is the better management of the potential of the physics spells. We are really determined to make siege machinery such as warhulks and cannons a lot more useful.

That is me.
It is a list I posted on our SUN forums and frank wanted more discussion done about it so he posted it on the DF subscriber forums as I am no longer a paying subscriber (as of a few days ago) I could not post it there.
Anyways, This list while compiled together really shows you a lot of the lip service the players have been given over the months and years.
As I said in my original post. It got me more and more upset the more old updates that I read and remembered all the stuff that was talked about but never actually happened.
Imagine if these new addititions/changes to the game actually happened along the way to where the game is today?

Are you honestly surprised though, this game was lip service for years and years and years, the company had shown their colors before the game even came out.
Its a shame as it was pretty fun just not my thing.

It seems AV completed the siege system after 6 months of first talking about it. Congrats to AV.
Even though selfsieging had been a problem for years.
It's not complete, it's still buggy. Siegestones can't be damaged, timers are wrong, and prices are wrong.
This game had so much promise, unforuately it's in the hands of AV, so it's reached the bare minimum of it's potential.
A software company buying an already game ,they probably knew notihng about.I doubt these guys ever had any mappers,modellers,aniamtors,i feel AV had some guys who understand code but even then only maybe 2-3 guys.
If AV was serious about making a game,they would have made a game,but instead chose to buy one already 90% complete.This game reminds me of Eve,it will take MANY years to see the game reach 50% of it's potential.In otherwords,many years of beta,i am not into supporting half finished products.

Frank Sinatra and Ivanhoe from SUN....hmmm I remember fighting you guys on Yssam a long time ago. I was in Sick Bastards..damn that seems like forever ago. Sorry the game didn't get better..I left well over a year ago. I liked almost all of it, except all the goddamn bunnyhopping nonsense.
I could handle the idiotic macro'ing, swimming all night, etc..but that damn bunnyhopping drove me crazy. The UI could have been better, but hotkeys helped with that. Are you going to bother with DF 2.0? Probaby not as this was an extensive rant about AV's inability to fulfill their long litany of promises.
I also agree with another poster in that DF might be great in a few more years...if it can survive that long.

The biggest issue is probably having too small of a dev team to handle a MMO.
Not sure if their were lay offs or not. But their is a very clear difference from the amount of work that was going into the game at launch / NA server opening and what has been going on the last 9++ months with little/no changes updates to the game.
A declining population also doesnt help. If the game was at Pre NA launch server levels the it would be a great deal of fun even in its current lackluster state. The players created the content. Less players = less content = less fun for a MMO.
They also spoke about the asian market over 1 YEAR ago.. yet for somereason they bring it up again just 2 months ago as if its something NEW thats going on with the game.
Their are clear failures from the Dev team going back to beta days with lack of fixes/changes to the game that players were wanting/asking fo etc.
I doubt AV has any money to hire or keep hired dev members. Its a shame because their is a ton of potential for the game but it wont happen with AV at the helm. Unless they hire 20+ devs members and push out monthly updates.(major updates)
I don;t think they have the money and the players/subscribers probablly deserve to know wtf is going on with the company and the game that they are paying for.
It wouldn't suprise me if the remening dev members are wroking for free or very very cheaply just to try and save the game somehow.
I highly doubt I will give AV another chance when DF 2.0 comes out in 1-2 years.
Remember they say some players will be testing DF2.0..... and testing hasnt even begone Their is a verrry verry long time before DF 2.0 is released. Probably at least 1 year but more likely 2 years.
Their are no alternatives really. I will go back to playing zero PC games. My last fulltime PC mmo was AC/darktide which i stopped playing around 01.
Looking forward to Planetside 2 . But until then. I will follow whats up with darkfall because of its great potential.
