If you want to start playing Lineage 2 now is a great time to start. I meet 3 people in game that I started to group with on one of my low level alt toons. We all started our toons about a month ago and all 3 of them love the game and are almost about to hit level 76 which is S Grade. They have even came together and made their on clan. Lineage 2 is very grindy but its still very enjoyable. Its something you just have to try for your self. As with every mmo on this site do not listen to the haters, they are just mad and dont wont to see someone enjoy something that they dont. If you want to get info on Lineage 2 read post from people that are actually playing the game. I can send you a trial key if you want to try the game out so let me know.
Sorry Aori I am not a troll but I am a fanboi and I am not ashamed to admit that. You are the troll lol. The OP clearly said he wanted to hear from Veteran Players and people that actually play the game. You are neither one of them so why are you here? I can see that the OP is tired of all the troll haters like you who float these game fourms and I dont blame him.
I have a level 84 toon in game about to hit max level 85. At Goddess Of Destruction I will awaken to a Pheol Wizard and start my next journey in Lineage 2. I took the time to learn the game which was not easy and I made it. I have what you dont, I have what could not get, I have what you wish you had. You say you only made it to a low Level 60 which I dont even believe you made it that for. LMAO, I can do that in a week. Dude, I just feel sorry for you because I know you are butt hurt over this game or you would not keep comming here.
You have some points there that are true, but you can work around them.
Yes, economy is an old one, but not declining. Prices of S8x items are rather high indeed, but as a new player you're not there for the coming months, so don't worry about it at all I'd say. I gotta advice that when you do want to buy something, you'd best keep an eye out for bargains and be aware of the large number of scammers out there. I still don't see why players sell certain items as 'CHEAP', while you can buy them in shop for half the price...
Then the demand to know someone in-game. Not true at all IMO. In my previous clan we had a couple of brand new players to the game (they made 80 in 4-6 weeks with a lot of help), who we helped through academy (good gear), we donated low-grade gear to and in the end helped them to craft and/or buy cheap their S-grade items. Thing is, you do need to find a clan that's active and willing to support a complete new player (and there's enough of those on Naia, and I think on Chronos as well).
I gotta agree on bots/hacks. Bots are nearly extincted (about time!), but there are certain 3rd party programs that makes you as legit player indeed play PvP[rogram] during sieges and random PvP[rogram]. It's something you gotta learn to live with I think, since cheaters are in every game
I think if you're interested in L2 and meet the right people (look on L2 off forums for that), you can enjoy every bit of the game out there.
You see the difference in advice from people that ACTUALLY play the game?
LOL, keep changing your story. You have not succeded in Lineage 2 by getting a level 70 toon. Thats low level and a non factor and I still dont belive anything you say about what you have done in this game. You have not been part of the most dominant clans in Lineage 2 because they will laugh at a level 70. You have to be 84+ to even be considered and that still does not mean you will get in. Before that it was 80 and before that it was 76. You dont even class change till level 76. You see how your post just dont make sense and make you look like a fool?
I have said time and time again. Yes, people cheat in this game and the game is very grindy and tough but its still a GOOD game that a person should just try for them selves and see if they can do it. There are so many people on this forum that keep disagreeing with your post and telling you over and over and over that they play the game and have friends and clannies that just started and are making it S Grade and getting gear just like them but you keep comming here telling new people not to play this game and you cant make it and its a waste of time. You are a hater, troll and a failure and thats what you will always bee to me.
LOL, I think I hit a nerve that time. You killing your self by saying stuff that any real player knows better. How do you know how to succeed in this game if you have not succeded? If you did you would be playing the game today and trying to get your toon to 85 so you can be ready to awaken like everybody else. This is what people are doing in this game but you dont know because you dont even play the game. Do you play the game? The OP said he wanted to hear from Veteran Playes and people that play the game and I am the one that cant read and comprehend? Thats what makes you look like a fool because you dont play and people that do play keep telling you that you are wrong. I dont care about your argument because like I said you are nonthing but a low level failure scrub and until you prove me wrong thats all you are to me. Prove me and wrong, I dare you to. Server is back up and I will be in Giran trying to make some money. Let me know whats up scrub.
I've been around since C1. Lived for the game, hated it, lived the changes and everything so I think I can add some personal insight.
Pros:
- click to move is actually better, since none of 'wasd' games have combat mechanics that take moving and jumping around like a looney into combat system as dodging or sth to make it more flexible and skill based. If its gonna be crazy button hitting, might as well be click to move.
- Graphic details overall are pretty nice if u take that its korean made into account. Skill animation are tolerable, mob animations are great with a great sound details.
- UI is prolly one of the best out there, it's not complicated, its minimalistic and its costumizable.
- Grinding is somehow tolerable. Must be the combat system or something I can't quite describe. It has some strange allure.
- Group play is pretty fun way to lvl. Better than most games where u only get to group in an instance or a boss/pvp fight, or at least in other games group pveing isn't a great way to lvl. Also grouping with a friend(s) is way better than solo questing.
- Game has some brilliantly composed music, if ur one for music u won't be disappointed. Was a total extasy for the first time I played the game.
- Game developed in terms of content/features and depth a lot since launch. It's worth checking out the retail page for the update notes, spares me a thousand words.
- PvP/PK system is pretty great.
- Epic boss fight are the same as other games, alright, the difference here is that u can have 200+ ppl fighting the boss. It sure is something to experience and see.
Now to the things that bugged me:
- Graphic engine is pretty bad. Some high crowd situations can make ur graphic lag. U might get annoyed in towns, because it takes forever to load characters, and when loading ur game might stutter.
- All chars with same equip look the same. Lack of costumization. Also, every fifth char that looks like u will most likely have the same face and hair like u. Oki, thats speculation but u see the point.
- Also a char looking the same as u will prolly have the same stats and skills. The only costumization are tatoos and enchants, the latter affected by luck factor so not really something for casual players to be competitive. Surely not enough, a bit outdated here.
- Grinding might get boring coz some chars are limited to few specific zones cuz of class skills restrictions. And ofc, I have to mention the korean lvling curve.
- Music is triggered my specific zone, that means u always hear the same music if ur in specific zone for long.
- Content updates are great, but as an veteran player I'm not happy with the skill/class changes. However new players won't have a problem with that.
- Boss fights. Havent played L2 on retail since C5, but on private servers the trinity system tank/damage/heal is alsolutely broken, because tanks can't pull aggro, and in general devs could make raid encounters better with specific mechanics for each boss, to encourage more teamplay because it mostly feels like a single player experience. Epic bosses are alright. Would love to hear how the situation with aggro is on retail, coz after all this years raiding is the only thing I'm still not bored of doing.
- PvP/PK system doesnt protect u from being ganked or randomly harassed. And with the experience loss when u get killed by an idiot, u might get turned away from the game.
- Quests are pretty dull and boring and often very grindy with almost insulting reward for the effort.
I could go on and into more details, but i think thats enough. I urge u to try the game, if u have a friend with u that would make it even better. If ur not a LOTRO/WoW fanboi u might actually buy it. The GOD update will bring a lot of new dramatic changes to the world of L2 and it looks to me that L2 will be a totally different game just with the same name, so it might not feel outdated and who knows, maybe it brings back some ppl who left before NCsoft went on a moderately successful botban spree.
I know this thread is a bit old now but wow whats up with people like Aori? Level 70 is factor? yea... 5 years ago. The game is played at 85, you can hardly say you play the game for real those days if you arent blasting players with a 84-85 char. Imo 1-78 is pretty much a loooooooooooooooong introduction these days.
The game is harsh but interesting, i myself prefer to hang out on the russian servers though due to higher population etc. GoD will bring some interesting change but im afraid it might be something that we oldtimers wont enjoy too much.
I thought the russian servers had updated to GoD?
Imagine spending a long time in an absolutely fantastic game leveling up with (imo) beautiful graphics, downright awesome soundtrack and intricate classes with a rich clan warfare system. A place where each death or kill actually matters. Where after learning the economy (and you will) you find that you can actually make millions upon millions with just one deal or sale, or many.
Imagine that... Then embrace the thought of when you finally get somewhere you realize its just completely infested with hackers and cheaters and NCSoft couldnt care any less. I would go into detail, but i just dont really feel there is a need.
Its just bad. Anyone willing to say otherwise doesnt actually have a high level character or wont admit they have to cheat to compete themselves. And im not denying that there are very, very, very few who dont cheat, however they are considered a "non-factor" player... and yeah, thats the exact term they use if you're lucky enough to hear it in english.
If certain problems would have been eliminated in L2, it would have been a masterpiece imo.
Good Luck.
The first 2-3 posts sum up L2. It is a long and repetitive grind, but there are many other things to do in the game. If you only play to quest/grind alone the game will get boring fast. If you involve yourself in events, daily Kamaloka, weekly sieges/fortresses (PvP), group grinding, and group raiding then you will have an amazing time in L2. All of these things can be done at relatively low levels. High level pvp events are the Olympiad (arena fights) and castle sieges. Of course there is open pvp everywhere, and pvp at equal gear is FUN and complex (getting ganked still sucks). Lineage 2 promotes group play, like most MMOs, and you will level much faster if you grind in catacomb parties, and do kamaloka bosses daily. You will also be closer to better high level gear by leveling only in catacombs/necropolises.
So, yes, the game is fun and worth playing if you participate in everything the game has to offer. The exp grind, and the item hunt can get tiring though!
Oh, and just to compare.. I played L2 during CB (paid 10$ at best buy for access, lol) and at release. I got a warsmith to level 23 in just over a MONTH. I barely had enough money to support the worst level 20-40 weapon, and no armor.
Now, you can level a character to 6x in a couple weeks if you know what you are doing, less if you play hardcore with a group. It may take a month for someone who has never played an MMO where you have to want and find things to do yourself. Also, low level gear is given to you (and there are cheap common versions that can't be upgraded) so you can save your money for consumables and A/S grade gear!
No, what i responded to was your sutpid claims you have been part of a serious clan when you are level 70 max on a char. That is a ridiculous statement.
Also i dont know when you played this game but saying it hasnt changed much is ignorance or stupidity. The game has evolved a lot and with GoD at the doorstep its going to go through another very big change.
Ru off isnt running GoD btw for people that wonders, however im playing on a private server with files supplied from innova (so not illegal and dont bother reporting this post).
@Azorith with a group you can pretty much level a char 1-85 in a weekend, it requires powerleveling though and is quite boring but completely possible.
Major announcment comming next Wendsday and most think it will be the date for Goddess.
Kuro1n just stop arguing because its a total waste of time. If you have having fun playing Lineage 2 just keep doing that because debating is really just a waste of time. Its good to see that you are still playing and enjoying Lineage 2.
If you haven't tried L2 yet, then you should. It hasn't as fun as it used to have when it had a thriving community, but it still worths it, imo. No other MMO had such depth in politics between players and clans, real player based economy (in the old times) etc etc. Have played it from Chronicle3 to Chronicle5 and returned for some months at Gracia Final, before I quit. Have played WoW, EvE, Aion, RIFT, etc etc, I still value L2 as the best MMO I have ever played, despite the never-ending grind...
Looking forward for Archeage now...
Tottaly agree with your post. Lineage 2 has its flaws and I will never deny that but even with the flaws it has its still the best mmo out and I have also played them all.
I have recently become a big fan of moba games I never really played the original dota much but got into LoL, and after a while I realized that L2 was pretty much a massive multiplayer moba game with castle sieges and really intricate politics, so it really works, when you get into a nice clan there is a lot to do.
