US weekend testing delayed now too :

    http://www.swtor.com/community/showpost.php?p=8927958&postcount=337

    Hello all,

There is no Beta Testing Weekend scheduled for this weekend. There may be further Beta Testing Weekends during September, but we're not going to guarantee it. The weekend that just finished was really our first dry run of Beta Testing Weekends as a whole, and we have plenty of data to crunch, and decisions to make before we start things up again.

Further to that, as Chris Collins explained in another thread, we are about to roll out a major new build for The Old Republic. That build won't be ready for this weekend. Just as we did not feel it was a good decision to ask potential EU testers to download our client only to have to download it again, the same applies for this weekend.

That does not mean, however, that as soon as our new build is available we'll be rolling out a Beta Testing Weekend immediately. As with any new build of the game, we need to get feedback from internal testing and our ongoing Game Testing program before rolling it out to a massive audience. That process takes a while, and that time varies depending on how testing goes.

We rolled out this previous weekend as a relatively small scale event; from now we will do bigger and bigger events, but that doesn't mean it happens every weekend. When we do resume, we'll be inviting many more people in.

While many of you are excited and anxious to know what's happening regarding Testing Weekends, I want to point out that a lot of posts on the subject with a lack of corresponding posts from us does not mean that we're not listening, or not aware of your interest. It shows your interest in the topic, which is understandably high, but we will not always be able to react instantaneously.

In the past couple of days we've been preparing a comprehensive FAQ regarding Game Testing Weekends as a whole, along with some details about the weekend that just happened. We'll post that tomorrow - in all languages, as we know the subject is of interest to everyone.

Does this means that Europeans can't beta test along their US friends on the same server?

And more importantly, will Europeans be forced to play in EU Servers instead of with their US buddies from back there in EverQuest days??

And no, i don't want or need or play in Localized servers... playing in US servers over the years helped me a lot on learning English and i don't have any sympathy for ppl that are too lazy to bother with it.

Buy the US version of the game then, like, nearly every AAA mmo that has came out in the past years.

What does anything have to dow ith localized servers tho? I play in EU English servers, doesn't mean you need to bash on the germans or french

Its interesting that the USA beta seams to have been delayed now too (according to a previous post by kabaal) and while I can understand the the reasons a game beta has to be delayed should it keep happening it will give an overriding impression that there are huge problems with it and give fodder to the trolls .

Its always best to keep your mouth shut if your not certain you will be able to deliver .Had they  kept silent and just sent out beta invites at the time they realised they definatly could go into beta mode and then made an announcement to that effect when they could have been sure it would not have been delayed would have been far wiser .

I'm sure the Beta will start soon though but I do have my doubts for a 2011 release . Sadly I think theres more chance this game will go head to head with a new WoW expansion in 2012 and lose out . They really do need to release this year or in the early months of next year at the very latest .

Not really...reasons such as game localisations means non-English language versions of the game for the French and German speaking countries in Europe. That isn't really going to hault launch it just means they have to crunch all those minor typos.

I am prediciting late November early December launch. Only likely to see launch slip into 2012 if their is a critical issue with the game.

I still dont understand why the damn launcher cant just compare files and download only the changes.... 27GB was enormous to download... do you really need to redownload the entire game (unless their game is compress into 2-3 files which i did not checked, but i think i saw many many files in the folder)

I was thinking the same thing. Unless they changed literally every file for the game, then they should have a system up for patching files that have been changed. It makes me scratch my head a little to figure it out. Also, usually with localization files, you do not need to change much to include them into the build.

Does make the crew that was so eager to grab their pitchforks and torches for a good witchhunt look kind of silly now.
