MO taking a step further in forum moderation?

"While this is true,  we are going other directions to help improve quality , and I do not believe limiting all users is the way to do so."

 

How would one improve the quality of posts without increased moderation?

I'll be a regular paratrooper here and ask; is there any particular reason why MMORPG forums are getting almost daily feeds about MO and its dev team along with game drama, in and out of it? Are their forums run by iron fist or something so all you guys are coming here seeking refuge or something? Honest question(s).

AIRBORNE!!! I do believe the forums @ MO are moderated to an extreme by the 17-18 year old head mod Talwin.  Secondly, Starvault (MO Devolpers) have directed fans here to put MO in a favorable light. Thus the drama...

 

MMORPG.com allows us to speak openly about MO.

Most forums for a P2P game don't allow a person to post on them (in anything other than a public section) if you are not a paying player.  So, people who do not actually play a game, and in some cases have never played a game, must go to another forum that will have them.  You'd be amazed at the number of critics that have been posting here regularly for years who have never actually played the game, only played the free trial  {mod edit}

Additionally, official forums for just about any game will not allow a member to post an infinite number of bashing posts on their forum.  It's disruptive to other paying players, and it's bad for business.  Those that cannot abide by simple rules get removed.  The same thing happens on just about any forum.

So, in boiling the original post down, a player suggested that Star Vault limit the number of posts a player can make in a day, and SV said they were not going to do that.

The rest of the post implies something insidious, while providing no proof.

 only played the free trial (as a form of witchhunt), or haven't played it in over a year.  It's sad to think of how obsessed some can become over a game.

 

 

So people opinions based on the 14 day free trial are invalid?

It's a shame they are so worried about the quality of their forums, especially since that is not the product they are selling. It would be nice if they spent just a bit more time in fixing the issues the few remaining customers paid for. 

I hope this company's antics proves to people that MO is not worth playing. It's one thing to develop a subpar game, it's a whole other thing to dictate people's actions against what they believe. Don't want people to talk trash about your game? Well, don't make a bad game. Don't want people to speak poorly of your company? Then act like a professional organization. 

Just give it time and this company will fixed by the market.

That's the point - their forums are being handled by mods on a day to day basis.  This is nothing new, and no one is saying they are doing extra work that takes away from the actual game.

SV isn't making a huge issue.  That "worry" is being done artificially here, on this forum.

So they are in fact making changes to forum policy? Since you have all this insight, feel free to set me straight. That's why I started this thread with a question.  Do I need to keep asking the same question?

Artificially? Really? Are you serious? Just picture yourself paying someone to do something for, given a contract, legal or advertised. Then they tell you that you are wrong, misguided and have no right to speak otherwise, thereby taking your money and your hopes for a return on it, the utility you would gain from it. 

It's fine their forums are moderated. It's not fine they put out a piece of crap game and demand players invest in it so it can get better. Here's my challenge to companies like that:  STOP MAKING CRAPPY GAMES. There has to be more potential than hopes and dreams. There has to be at least a core worth saving. I find this core to be absent. 

It's disgusting how many games in the MMORPG industry plain suck; at least have the decency as an organization to admit your mistakes and do your best to improve upon them. SV has acted in an incredibly unprofessional manner and nothing short of their doors closing would be appropriate for what has happened to their customers.

Is it me or is Rohn trying to defend the MO forum mods?

The forums are run by pretty much a child. I'm 18, and would I ever expect a professional company to hire me as their lead mod? No fudging way.

When I think of Sindas i think of a little boy who gets his own way far too much. He's a driving reason behind me and a number of my guildies dropping our subs.

 

To put it simply, the mofo is a joke.

So essentially the moderator rejected the idea of limiting the number of posts.  Unless you are adcovating for such a change why does this even merit mention?

So, the moderator of those forums moderates. They did not "[make] changes to forum policy" they continue moderating and have rejected an idea about limiting the number of posts per day.

@Cyde and Hanover: Pointing out the behavior of the moderator has some point. Pointing out his age doesn't.

I will answer it for you, seems some of the fanbois around here can not answer a question unless it puts MO in a favorable light. 

Yes Talwin said in ITC a couple weeks ago that he is re-writing the rules of IRC and the MOFO.  I am sure Cyde can back me up because Soupy and Gigamo were in IRC when he said it.

He said he was re-writing the rules and then submitting them to Opal for approval which is a joke cause everyone knows Shinzon is Opal and Talwin is Sindas.  Ofcourse they are going to get approved.    I even quppied that to Soupy. 

Everyone since day one has said Aegis Imperium gets favortism.  The lead Mod and the CM are essentially AI.  Makes you wonder.

i dont see how that translates to AI getting favoritism, sure sindas is ai and shinzon is ai, ai has what 4 people in it? i see no such proof of any favoritism ai has recieved since beta their guild is pretty much non existant anymore.

Um because they run the game now.  I want you to do this for me.  Get in AQ's VOIPS and say this same statement please record it and link it.  I want a good laugh.

Everyon that has been involved with Shinzon knows he is a master manipulator.  You do not know all the shady back door things he has done.  I am sure the people in AQ that were in 13  or BRB know.  Or even some of the AQ that have dealt with him. 

And I said since day 1, AI got a lot of favortism in beta and even after release.  Do i need tobring up what happned when we took thier keep spot again???  AI in your words is no exsistent anymore.  But the 4 people Shinzon, Sindas, Laylah I do nto know the other but those 3 are CM, Lead, Mod, Mod.

Do some research about AI with some of the people in your guild that have dealt with them and get back to me.
