I will only be playing it in single player.
I don't have enough to buy Xbox live and the game.
I'm only getting two new games this season, cause I'm broke.
So It's Skyrim and something else.
So should I hold off on it?

Its alot of fun...havent tryed the multi player but its a blast
Its a good game, had a bad launch.. Game was very buggy. Its better now.
Definitely worth a try. but i personally think it shines in multiplayer.
Currently Playing: LoL,EVE, Rift
Future Games: WH40K:DM, Tera Planetside2
Past Games Ive tried:
WoW, FE, AoC, WAR, LotRO, Tabula Rasa,GW, and Many F2P games.
The best part about Dead Island is the co op. If you can't buy Xbox Live, then I would say it is just a standard game. Not worth it if you are tight on money.
Played: SWG, SWG:NGE, EQ2, Vanguard, LotRO, WoW, Age of Conan, Warhammer Online, Dark Age of Camelot, Mortal Online, Rift, Guild Wars, Fallen Earth, EVE Online, Ryzom, Dungeons and Dragons Online, World of Tanks, Aion, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Guild Wars 2
I'm thinking about getting it because of the co-op, but thus far I couldn't convince anyone to buy it as well, the game is rather broke right now (on steam at least) so... maybe in the future when it's cheaper I'll grab it, it looks really good tho
I would buy it only for the co-op, I don't think by the looks of things the SP will be any good, don't seem to have any depth what so ever and the general gameplay is kind of boring (that is my take on it), bear in mind that I haven't played it, might be 8th wonder of the world and I'm just wrong, but I don't think so
If you're only getting it for the singleplayer, then wait for it to hit the bargain bins or wait for the next Steam holidays sales.
The story is almost non-existant and the gameplay itself is monotonous and repetitive to the point of frustrated tears.
Also, for a zombie game, there's absolutely no tension or fear at all.
-Letting Derek Smart work on your game is like letting Osama bin Laden work in the White House. Something will burn.-

Only played a little so far but like others have said unless you have some friends to play with, the game isn't that great. Plus if your only buying two games, this november you'll have way better games to pick up.
Yeah, like Gabby said,if youre only buying 2 games this season save them for something worth while..
Dead Island has its fun moments, but alot of it is very repetative.Plus,I wouldnt even bother if you dont have anyone to play with, game would just seem so boring if played single player.
I have to say one thing.
Although i always take CGI trailers and such with a grain of salt when it comes to any game, the original trailer they made for Dead Island ( you know, the sad one with the little girl ) just totally and completely misrepresented the game.
The actual game evokes about as much feeling as a pinched cheek after a huge dose of novacaine.

Got it today, i'm about 6 hours into it, i think its an ok game, my first zombie game, so for the first hour or two i was like "AHHHH! ZOMBEH!!!" but now i'm like "yay....nother one....". i will say i dont like the fact that they level up with you...what's the point of doing all the side missions and re-murdering each one if all i get is a level (which they also get?) i feel no sense of accomplishment or progression. my two cents.
The Deep Web is sca-ry.
Dont spend 60 dollarson dead island dude. especially for the 360. The fact that you're considering it for the PC tells me you don't have a PC good enough for it, but if you somehow do, wait for the price to drop within like 2 to 3 months
Dead Island 2 is currently the only new game worth getting right now, but try and be patient like the rest of us waiting on sweet sweet november.
Personally I'm waiting on:
Skyrim
Saints Row 3rd (if you dont have it, get saints row 2. i have it on the ps3 and i play it all the time. it doesnt take itself seriously which allows it to be fun and gives it super high replay value. after that, you'll be good ready for the even better saints row 3)
Thats pretty much it actually. I'll prolly get twisted metal and that new resident evil game and eventually dead island. But dead island is definatly not a near release purchase. Skyrim and Saints Row and GTA and a few other titles are, but not many are. Dont get me wrong, i'm sure dead island will be a lot of fun but not 60 dollar fun.
I would absolutely give dead island to try the amount of people in the amount of hype behind this game can't be a big joke and it's obviously got a be a really good game. Just look at any of the videos and you can tell that it's a well-done game. It can be kind a like left for dead but with better graphics. I've heard people say that the game itself is a little bit rough around the edges with certain parts of it but just look at the game and if it's something that you're in to give it a try.
Im getting it soon because im in love with zombie games , however its really up to you if its worth it or not i have friends that love it and play it non stop and i have friends that play it for like ten min a day just so they wouldnt be wasting their money. Its a lot like dead rising 2 without the story mode, however its better because i heard the missions were hard and you can have up to 4 people playing the mission with you if you need help. i agree with the person that said left 4 dead 2 was better because its a story mode and its not constant running. But dead island is good because unlike left 4 dead you can free roam and use your imagination on how to kill the zombies and dont get me wrong i love me some left 4 dead 2 but you cant do that on there. so really its up to you if you dont want to buy it then wait till you can rent it and just do that and see what you think.
I got 28 hours out of it. More if more friends buy it.
It's $33 on greenmangaming, by the way.
I've played 23 hours and I haven't even completed Act 1.
Imho, it's an amazing game and serves it's intended purpose very well. I completely disagree with anyone claiming that the gameplay is lackluster, my experiences have been the exact opposite.
One of the best single player games I've played in a very long time, and I'm nowhere near completion. Haven't even tried Co-Op yet because I've been having such a blast with the single player.
Your post confuses the hell out of me. If hes considering it for PC then what in there tells you about his PC specs? Also how is Dead Island 2 the only new game worth getting right now? Dead island 1 just came out.
Definitely a high post.
its a good game. worth the money. im sure you can find discount codes or coupons or somewhere that has it on sale. otherwise its 49.99 USD.
its a great game better than many released this year. try it.
If it was cheaper yes but considering its price, no.
I never understood certain game companies. Do they have 13 year olds doing the marketing job?
I'm with most people. It's a good game, just not $50 good. You always have to knock off at least $10 for bad console ports on principle alone. At least $10. Principle alone. At least.
Bartoni's Law definition: As an Internet discussion grows volatile, the probability of a comparison involving Donald Trump approaches 1.
Its a good game that could be a GREAT game if they had left the annoying console features out of the PC port.
Super exageratted head bob and body movement when fighting
Complete blurring of background when turning
Overly bright bloom objects
This game was desgined to be played 10 feet from a TV screen not 2 feet from a monitor. These over the top effects make for a mess on the PC version. There are a number of modders trying to make it playable for PC by removing this crud. See the Steam forums for more info.
"Try it out", it only takes about some hour with good connection. And if you like it, buy it. xD
I would rent it before purchasing. I wasnt that smart with this one. I seen some cool trailers and i went straight out and purchased the game. Honestly, i was having a blast untill i realized a few things regarding the mechanics of the game.
For example;
I fight my way down the beach having a blast with the combat clearing out zombies and honestly the combat is kinda fun (for a while). What really let me down was when i turned around and came back.. the exact same zombies had already respawned in the exact same locations, and every container that i had emptied now had more loot in it....
However, my son thinks its one of the coolest games ever... so i guess its all a matter of perspective. I wish the game was more challenging, thats for sure. Its a fun game. The zombies level up with you, continuously respawn after you leave an area, and loot containers refill like you were never there in the first place. I quit around level 15 or so out of boredom. Good luck.
I thought it was going to be an open word sandbox type game with zombies but instead we got another theme park with a boat load of fedex quests. Not bad but could have been alot better. I say wait until the price goes down.
This is one of those games, that apply to a wide variety of gamers for different reasons, love slaying zombies? Love exploring beautiful landscapes? Love RPG's? Well this game is probally for you if you can get past some pretty bad voice acting and a mild back story, I bought this game in the UK today, and it was sold out EVERYWHERE, i was lucky to get a preordered copy that someone cancelled just a few minutes before.
This game was obviously something everyone was looking foward too! The game itself in my eyes is wonderful. If you're on a console the textures may take a few seconds to pop in, but the game is visually amazing. The game is agreat mix of Borderlands, Dead Rising and Left 4 Dead. With a strong level based RPG, Wacky weapon customizations and mindless violence and gore. The game also seems pretty long, with a strong CO-OP replay value.
My friend and I played the game for around 8 hours today, and we're around %15 in to the main story, (After doing a large amount of side quests we could find) but that's not just all there is, there is so much to explore! We have seen so many rooms, or pathways and havn't gone down there, the estimated game time is around 20-30 hours, but i reckon you could easily push around 40-50 hours with a rough search of the whole island.
This game in my eyes, is fantastic it's everywthing i ever wanted in a zombie game, Apart from some weak voice acting, and minor visual impacts it's fine, the story is mild, nothing to WOW yet... But yeah, it's certainly a great game and if you loved Borderlands, Dead Rising or Left 4 Dead, i'd certainly recommend. Oh! It also has a great feeling of tension in some points, and you really feel like you want to survive! The death penalty is very minor, but you never get into a situations where you think "Oh, i'll just die, and spawn with more health" you feel like you're the character, and you NEED to survive, it's amazing, i can't wait for my other friends to jump in and we can get stuck into another day of awesome gaming.
