About T4

I really wanted to like WAR.

It was fun, I liked public quests, I liked the open PvP zones, I liked the classes and the lore...

I joined the game at launch, and I played it til my Chosen was about 25 or so.  Then I left, disgruntled at balancing issues, some problems I had with keep taking, etc.

I came back to the game probably about a month before the Skaven were introduced to the game.  The endless free trial actually pulled me in, because T1 was really buzzing.

Unfortunately everything was dead other than that, for the most part.  T3 didn't seem too bad, but the public quests and PvE areas were no-mans-lands.

Now in T3 I heard some peeps talking about getting their RR up before going anywhere near T4, due to being able to go above your level at what... 35 or so?

Anyway, my Chosen was about 37 when I heard this, but I disregarded it.  I wanted my first 40, and I wanted to try T4.  Oh, how foolish of me.

T4 is just a nightmare for new-comers.  Not only do oldbies have the advantage of high realm levels and thus better resists, stats, abilities etc... plus experience... but high RR is also the only way to get any half decent gear.  So there I was, level 40, RR39, with pathetic gear trying to compete.

I might as well have taken a level 1 out there.  It was totally pointless trying to fight.  The best thing for me to do was camp some place safe, near guards, and leech RPs.

So I left.  A little earlier the only person I knew who played lost interest, so that didn't help either.

But mainly, I wanted to PvP, not spend a month trying to get my RR up by hiding inside groups.  My char was a Chosen, meant to be at the front lines, but instead he was a marshmellow waiting to get roasted.

I know how it is.  People who've been there longer, spent a lot longer playing deserve the high RR and the gear.  I understand that.

But you can't ask me to say it's fun when they hand my ass to me again, and again, and again, and again when I can't even do like 1 damage to them.  It just got old and boring very fast.

There really isn't anyway to fix how unbalanced it is, I know, but I can say that I'm sure I'm not the only newcomer to leave because of this.  It's sad, because I liked the game.  I wanted to stick around, but not so badly that I'd resort to scavenging RRs while I hide in groups and safe-zones, like a rat.
