Winners of Composer's Challenge and Mortal Writings Announced

RohnRohn Member UncommonPosts: 3,730

SV announced the winners of their Composer's Challenge and Mortal Writings contests today.

"It's been a while since the Composer's Challenge and Mortal Writing's closed their doors to new submissions, and I would like to personally apologize for this long delay. However, now that things have finally settled down, we had a chance to sit down and give all of the submissions the proper attention they deserve. Also due to the long wait time, we are bumping up the game-time to two months for the winners of the competitions. Also all honorable mentions will receive a month of free game-time."

Artsakh won the Composer's Challenge with his piece, entitled "The North": http://soundcloud.com/eddykassabian/the-north

Bobzer77 won the Mortal Writings competition with his story, "Defeat": http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/65111-defeat.html

Further details of the contests, including honorable mentions, can be found on the official statement here:

Congratulations to all the winners!

    Nuts!

I wish other games would have composer challenges! I'd love to do that!

It is pretty cool.  I was surprised at how good some of these really were.  I think it all started with just a couple of people submitting some of the work they did, and SV decided to make a contest of it.

If you're interested in something like this, Sovrath, perhaps you could talk to the community manager of the game you're playing, or just organize an informal one within your game's community.

What did you receive free game time for DS?

Thought it was only given out en masse for extended server downtimes, or for being a CM/GM etc.

Just curious what other ways there are of getting free game time, might be helpful to others.

Still no reply to this Deathshroud?

How did you get free gametime if you were not employed by SV in some capacity? It was not the free game time given to players for the extensive downtime, so what was it?

I doubt you'll see a response because if he did do work for SV he would be violating their semi-fascist NDA's.  Thus confirming your suspicion, we know.

BUT I will say I did receive free game time from Starvault for reporting a dupe-bug in the first hour of a new patch being released.  I saved their game economy from inestimable damage, and what did they give me?  7 lousy free days.  What a bunch of cheap bastards.

(One of many dupes, but one that got nipped in the bud as soon as it was released)

Well you see that is a perfectly reasonable explanation, so why didn't DS just say so if that was it? Maybe it was because it would involve admitting to those game-breaking bugs? No idea.

And I wasn't implying anything, just wondered where this mysterious free game time came from.

Did you have to enter a code to get the gametime like Death is talking about?

Nope they manually updated the length of my subscription.

Ah so it is NOT the same situation as DS then, so my question still stands -

Why did you get free game time Deathshroud? What did you do to merit it, and was it in-game related or something else?
